Well to be fair, the NFL as we know it has continuously tinkered with the rules from the very beginning and it's not like some of the rules changes haven't been necessary. The rules that allowed for more passing in 1979 opened up the game in a huge way from being a RB dominated league and one that was predicated on just pounding the ball to something with a lot more balance.

That being said, I do think the NFL found the perfect balance of competition and rules by the late '90s. Ever since the Emanuel Rule they've been going down a slippery slope just about every year.

Not to mention extending regular season means decreasing preseason.

So you're having similar amount of football, just having more money made in 2 weeks.

2 BYE weeks would be good for players too. Season still ends at same time, we still have August football, but we just have regular season games happening for more of those weeks.

Haha, I know I know. Wentz was having an unbelievable season that year, I fully believe he could’ve done the same thing (or better) if he hadn’t torn that ACL. There’s no reason to believe otherwise. And I rode for Foles pretty hard going in to that run, before he got his moniker. I thought they gave up on him too early in his first go around with the Eagles.

Timing is a funny thing, though. The best players don’t always win the most championships. But he set ‘em up, Foles knocked ‘em down. Both guys have rings for a reason.

Hmm. I don't remember telling anybody what they can or can't talk about but thanks for the input and the unnecessary snide remark.

My point was that it's June and people just need something to talk about to get us through the off-season. Starting a post with "You guys realize" just felt like an attempt to devalue the discussion that's going on because you know the conclusion and everyone else doesn't.

It's honestly just a coincidence that you're a Steelers fan and I mentioned their melodramatic drama because it's the first NFL franchise that comes to mind when I thought about off the field drama. My team's starting QB is a potential sex offender and stole crabs from a grocery store.

This is part of why I don't talk much in sports sections of this forum anymore. If I wanted to be snide it wouldn't have been so indirect.. just a coincidence.

No reason? How about no proof?

It takes an equally large leap of faith to say that he would or wouldn't win the Super Bowl that year

If I'm the Cowboys, I pay Dak Prescott whatever the hell he wants and figure the rest out later.

It's not so much that I think Dak is the best quarterback ever, but rather that I look at the hit rate on quarterbacks drafted after Round 1 over the past decade and realize how damn lucky the Cowboys got finding him.

That sort of luck isn't replicable, and unless Dallas is prepared to trade up for a top-flight prospect such as Tua Taglovia, Jake Fromm, or Justin Herbert next spring, paying Dak is unquestionably the team's best option at remaining competitive for the next however many years.

Yeah I saw that and was baffled. Funny thing is, I watched an old game and he was playing in it. (I didn't even know he had a brief NFL career) of course, his team lost in the most excruciating way possible.
