Sucks though. I really had hopes for this season and the coming seasons with Ballard in charge. Now our rebuild is set back for however long it takes to find a QB. I don’t believe Brissett to be the guy...

I think the biggest issue they had is the timing. It's one thing if he does it in the offseason before the draft. The team could have done something to replace him. What would have happened if they traded Brissett? It's just how the team handled all of the injuries and the many lies that were told about his health.

I don't think it's right to boo the man, but I also don't think it's right to lambaste an entire fan base over this. The majority of Colts fans I know and have seen are disappointed, but supportive of the decision.

It's one thing to sit at home and have social media feed you the context of the situation such as: injuries, rehab, etc. and another to be in attendance, probably a few beers deep, and finding out in the middle of a game right before the season starts that you're losing your starting QB.

There's probably a lot of confusion involved with that. Justin Hokinson (formerly covering Auburn) posted a video online earlier of some of his interviews with fans and everyone was really supportive. Some even said they were mad at first, but after reflecting it made a lot of sense.

I'm not about to let woke sports media drive the idea that this is the worst thing sports fans can do because that's what a lot of them are doing.

Whoever let that information slide is an ******* as well. I hope Schefter is paying them well. It completely changed the way this all went down and it wasn't fair to Luck at all. I think the narrative about Colts fans would be a lot different today without the mid-game announcement.

This is too far lol. My friend at the game said he could barely hear the boos. Like usual let’s not blast an entire fanbase over a few bad apples.

The timing is the biggest issue I have with it too, but I still can’t boo the guy. Who knows what’s been going on in his head. Yeah he kinda screwed us, but it’s his life. His health comes first. I’d rather him live a long and healthy life than him give us a Super Bowl win at the expense he gets CTE or something.

It really sucks that Luck is done. I really thought he was going to be one of the greats. The timing is awful too. If he did this in February the Colts could have had a chance to prepare a Plan B. I really thought the Colts were the clear favorite in the AFC South but now they will finish last.

I wonder if he'll end up building the kind of resume' his dad has (probably the most impressive I've ever seen) off the field or if he'll just disappear.

                      Re: NFL Off Topic

I don't get the timing argument. Football and the NFL even more so is an all in sport. If you're not all in, you can get yourself in real trouble. If he was facing another lengthy rehab (which probably didn't really show itself until late) and just wasn't sure he was up for it, now is the time to get out. Fans not understanding how this works be damned. It's far better to get out of this game in particular too early than too late.

Guy faced reality, made a tough decision and took a beating from the locals for it. Good on him, it took a lot to do what he did.

If he does contemplate coming back in a year or 2, if I were him the Colts would be the last team I'd want to come out of retirement for.

Two can be true at the same time.

Luck is free to retire at anytime he wishes to.

The timing is horrible for the Colts franchise.

Has there been an actual timeline of his retirement given, or is this just based on when things hit Twitter?

He settled his financials with the club a week ago, so unless that was a quick negotiation this has been in the works for a bit.

                            Either way, don't care personally.

The podcasts I've listened to today say the Colts were well aware that this was a possibility which is why Irsay said last year said that they wouldn't trade Jacoby for a 1st rounder.

So my issue is more with Schefter breaking the news when he did because it came off like Luck just decided to retire right then and there. I get that that's Schefter's job but I'm just kinda like **** him when it comes to this.
