I'm beginning to have a newfound appreciation for some of that after watching that Top Ten WRs of the 2000s show. Now, i'm not saying I want to see the return of the egotistical, loudmouth WR but I kinda miss the more spontaneous celebrations and such. The more choreographed stuff certainly wore thin but when we're seeing penalties over the smallest little celebratory things then you know the league has completely sucked out all the fun of the game.

I just want guys to be able to do what they want, at least to a certain extent. When I see my center get kicked out of a game for his second personal foul, this one being for "Taunting", when he hit Norman with a block and then kinda talked **** when he towered over him for a few seconds, or OBJ getting penalized Monday for that little "altercation" with Rhodes which was really nothing, it sucks what little fun I can muster out of it. Then the kickoff changes, extra points. It just feels like stuff is constantly changing. If Manfred has his way, I guess I'll be going through the same stuff with baseball pretty soon.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

When I seen Antonio Brown get fined for his celebration, I had to remind myself "Yeah, this is the new NFL where THAT is considered a fineable offense."Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 10-05-2016, 02:23 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

But he kept it at two pelvic thrusts instead of three this time. Still, the bow and arrow flag takes the cake. lolComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
When a player can't even go to the sidelines and do a simple "bow and arrow" motion its a little silly. Even more so than the actual celebration.
The NFL has become so corporate that all the joy is being sucked out of the game.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I don't mind the fines for dumb excessive celebrations, but the bow & arrow is great! And to penalize teams is just overkill.
Not sure exactly what the reason behind this stuff is. They're trying to keep guys from inciting fights I guess? Keep the focus on the actual game, but that stuff is gonna happen anyway regardless of a flag or a fine. It's a competitive game and stakes are high for all involved, to expect that sometimes a line won't be crossed is living in fantasy land. Which... yup, that's the NFL. Literally fantasy football.
The NFL is the ultimate tryhard with this crap. You can make the game more safe or approachable without being tyrannical.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: NFL Off Topic
Out of all the bull**** penalties, the pelvic thrusts rule really the one that takes the cake. It's like the NFL decided to become a concerned mother in the 1950s watching Elvis dance. I will continue to call this out for being completely ridiculous as long as there are cheerleaders on the sideline shaking their *** at the crowd.Comment

It's not about safety. It's about uniformity and keeping things bland and corporate. If players never showcase any personality and fans never get to know them, they remain fungible and not important to the bottom line.
Think about it, how many players TRULY drive revenue in the NFL? Without googling, do you know what AJ Green looks like?
What they've done is genius, really.NFL - Vikings
