Meh, it wasn't a complete disaster under Schwartz. I'd rather have Schwartz than Caldwell. Caldwell is so bland it's unreal.

Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels will be names rumored to take over in Detroit with Bob Quinn there.
The link is there obviously with the Patriots. I'd still be very cautious over McDaniels. His another one who seems like he's a great coordinator, but not a Head Coach. And how much credit do you give him when his under Belichicks wing.

Patricia I'm not sure about, seems like a solid coach. But Teryl Austin is already one of the better defensive coordinators in the league. He just has no defense to coach. Jim Bob Cooter looks like he has helped Stafford take that next step. So really, we either promote from within, or land a big name coach or someone with a very respectable resume.

Surprised no one made a thread on the Hawks @ Jets game, lol.

Also, I feel like the Rams being 3-1 and winning the NFC West is entirely the Seahawks' fault. We all know that isn't sustainable with their offensive output, so... we'll see how it turns out. The only thing that will be certain is that the Hawks will lose their next game against them, because Pete Carroll can't find an answer for Fisherball.

The problem with these early-morning games is that I have inevitably sat up till one or two in the morning watching West Coast college football. I'll be damned if I'm going to get up at the crack of dawn after that just to watch the freaking Jags.

I wouldn't even wake up at 6:30am to watch the Texans.

I'd trade TNF for an AM Sunday game. The TNF product is sooo sloppy and borderline dangerous. That's like, 2.5 days to prepare instead of the full 5 or so. That's so reckless. But the NFL cares!

Unfortunately, you run 930AM games on Sunday and you're probably losing out on a good percentage of customers on the West Coast. Then again, they're used to settling in at 10AM for NFL Sunday, what's a few extra hours? Heh.

            NFL - Buffalo Bills
            MLB - Cincinnati Reds

As a Lions fan who woke up at 6:30, you're losing me for a good portion of the games after that.

You're already asking for a 10-11 commitment from consumers as it is. Adding an even earlier game every Sunday is overkill.

                  A bit late, but:

It's funny you ask that because I think that your team's offensive coordinator, Jim Bob Cooter - on top of having an absolutely amazing name - is going to be on the short list for some head coaching vacancies soon. He's from Tennessee and played football for the Volunteers, so it wouldn't shock me if he were the Titans head coach this time next year.

To throw another retread name out there - maybe Scott Linehan of the Cowboys gets a second look as a head coach option, given the promising early returns on Dak Prescott?

Speaking of retreads, I'd be surprised if Todd Haley doesn't start getting some looks again.

Also, color me NOT surprised that Jim Bob Cooter is from Tennessee. [emoji38]

Funny enough, don't really think any of them are options for the Lions. I doubt we're promoting internally and I get the feeling we don't think JBC is ready anyway. If we fired Caldwell mid-season and handed him the reigns for now, I wouldn't be too mad at it. Don't think he has the answers but I'm just tired of Caldwell's face.

Linehan was our OC with Schwartz. I think we're staying far away from the majority of that regime.

Because of the whole Quinn thing, looks like a lot Lions fans are expecting a push for Patricia if/when we move on from Caldwell.

Considering we have Football on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, I'd say we've already crossed the bridge of overkill.

And depending on who's playing, ya'll will get up early and watch, lol.

That's what I'm saying. Sunday is NFL day. Why not tack on another 3 hours?

I mean, I love football any day of the week but I think it's pretty clear the product is suffering on TNF. If it were TNF or Sunday AM, I'm taking my bacon and eggs with a side of football baby.

Maybe just make sure it isn't a couple of West Coast teams and crisis averted.

No way the owners would agree to give up 16 home games a year and I doubt the PA would even agree to make that trip on a weekly basis.

I would love the NFL to go to a college-style scheduling system. Games all day throughout the day on various channels.
