I was going to say the same thing about Slowik. I get that not every NFL HC job is a good job and you can take the Ben Johnson route and wait until the one you want opens up. But, for some guys. As fast as your stock can rise, is as fast as your stock can drop. For example, I wouldn't want that Saints job. Horrible cap situation, have to like Carr as QB. But, for some coaches it's either take that job or risk that your stock won't be as high anymore. I feel that Joe Brady should seriously consider the Saints job if offered. He can try and bank on staying with Bills will maintain his stock. But, his stint in Carolina should show him how quick his stock can drop.

I think Mike Kafka is in the same boat as Slowik. He was on the fast track to being a HC when he was at KC. His stock fell off since he's been with Giants. Sometimes your only option is to make the best out of a bad situation

Byron Leftwhich is another guy that comes to mind. He seemed on the fast track to being a Head Coach when Brady was his QB and now I'm not even sure if he's coaching in the NFL

        I don't think he is.

I think he was in the same position as Coen. Where I think he was a shoe in for the Jags job, but I think Baalke being there was the issue. But, Pedersen was okay with Baalke.

I wouldn't be surprised if Leftwich ends back up with TB. I do believe that if TB didn't make the playoffs, they would've moved on from Bowles and promoted Coen. At least, Bowles has done a great job of picking OCs since the last 2 became HCs.

But, they did manage to get around the Rooney rule by keeping the Coen thing secretive. They managed to get Patrick Graham for the interview. If he would've known about the Coen thing, he wouldn't have done the interview. Saleh didn't attend the interview yesterday once he found out about the Coen thing.

That just leaves the Saints job.

Raiders need a long term culture shift, and they bring in a guy who will be 77 the last season his three-year deal.

The Flus is loose in Dallas, Schottenheimer bringing in Eberflus as DC. He was a disaster of a HC but he's still a good coordinator, although he gets way too conservative with a lead late in games

Not going to make a big deal about the Schotty hire, I will just see how it goes come Sept.

                    I like the Eberflus hire.

Joe Brady backed out the Saints race. I don't blame him for not wanting that job. Terrible cap situation, have to like Carr who doesn't want to restructure contract. It make take a few seasons to get out of that cap mess. Even for someone like Kellen Moore, I would wait for a better opening next year. I actually think an experienced coach like McCarthy might be the best option. Get the most out of the roster and try to compete in a winnable division

That spot is made for McCarthy lol. New Orleans is a wasteland for now and the foreseeable future. They’re just floating out there

Best case scenario is Carr restructures and he has a good enough stretch to compete. They're not in a situation where you would want to tank and bottom out because of the cap situation. Normally a 5 win season would land you a top 5 pick. Best bet is to just try to work with what you have until the cap situation gets better.

This is the type of job for a new coach where either you surprise the world or damage your reputation. So, a lame duck transition coach is the best bet. Unlike the Raiders situation. This is probably the type of job Carroll shouldve taken lol
