NFL Off Topic
I’m not sure exactly what this is. The video in the article of Mahomes getting injured didn’t look like a malicious type of tackle or even close to the parallels they’re making with the horse collar technique.
Guys are so big and fast and maybe we have all the camera angles now, but it does seem like these injuries where guys get caught up under a defender are happening more. I feel like I’ve seen more gruesome injuries over the last few years than i saw combined earlier in life watching football.
I’m with Smash, it will be hard to define and call on the field. Horse collar is pretty clear. So I would just hate to see defenders handicapped again for trying to tackle the ball carrier. This type of tackle, from what I saw, seemed to at least be a tackle attempt and not just a grab and pull like the horse collar. I don’t like trying to legislate out actual tackle attempts.
EDIT: watched a different video that was much more clear. Yeah, I see why they say it’s the brother or sister of the horse collar in those examples. But again, it’s much more subtle and I still think it’s at least a legitimate tackle attempt. Horse collar doesn’t come up too often in the game but I could see this one being a nightmare for officials and teams.Last edited by slickdtc; 10-19-2023, 03:16 PM.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

My friend agrees too. He wasn't trying to hurt me. He was just trying to get me to ground [emoji23]. 10 screws and plate later. It's like 25 years [emoji23]Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Report: Malik Cunningham re-signing to Patriots’ practice squad
I thought I was reading an older article. But saw the date. This was yesterday lol. I can't imagine being pulled in so many directions. From practice squad to call up 3 year contract to back to practice squad. Is this because Matt Jones has a good game?Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Maybe there is a way to coach against it, though

I'm not sure how a defender avoids doing it. If you're wrapping up someone at the waist and they pull you along, I don't see any way your body doesn't fall on their legs.

Nike made the jerseys without any problems from their legal team. The jersey or merchandise was never put up for purchase.
The university decided not to merchandise it, this is probably an indication that they knew they couldn't do it without a big lawsuit. Rice used the same color scheme this year and got no letter from the NFL.
NFL claims that this would cause confusion with the NFL team, being licensed or associated with them. I don't see how it would confuse anyone. Maybe they need to add cougars to the front and then it's just similar colors if they use their existing red color.

Re: NFL Off Topic
It felt right. It was one thing last year with all the collapses and close losses, but the vibes aren't good there.
I'm somewhat surprised this didn't happen a day sooner. They could have traded a few pieces and went into rebuild. But at 3-5, I guess they feel they could salvage the season.Comment

Impressive feat. Raiders seem directionless. McDaniels to NE when?
