    Re: NFL Off Topic

Can we just make a QB down by touch or put flags on them, already? The game of football is getting downright ridiculous.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III admitted there will be times he tries to draw a penalty on players as he runs out of bounds. That wasn’t how he drew two personal fouls on Dallas’ Barry Church. And the tactic didn’t work against Detroit.

We already have WRs who look for a flag over looking to make a play and now you throw this in. QB's - especially one's with the league's best interest to play - are basically gaming the system now. It's a sad day when you start to see flopping-like tendencies in football.

Collinsworth last night on INFL had an interesting suggestion: dump TNF, play 2-3 games on Monday night.

      Thoughts?

I'm in the minority. I love Thursday night games. It's Football. I'd have football everyday if possible. I don't have a wife or kids so don't face the same struggle some of you do lol.

I'm all for it just for the sake of player safety and so the game doesn't get watered down. Injuries take their toll on rosters, but from a PR & marketing perspective, one risks losing superstars - something the NFL maybe hasn't considered too much.

As a kid in high school, I could see not having a problem playing a game everyday. Flash forward 12 years later, I participated in a full contact, full pads game of football about a month or two ago. The difference in how the body bounces back and recovers is night and day; it took me almost a full two weeks to get all the soreness out of my body. I have a load more respect for what these players put their bodies through.

I would not be opposed. Games at 4:30, 7:30 and 10:30 type thing? I would probably only catch two of the games though.

I won't say I don't hate TNF, but at the same time it's an afterthought to wrapping up the week, inching closer to the weekend and looking forward to Friday. It frequently is a 'oh yeah, that's on' especially since the Chiefs got theirs out of the way early.

I don't think I'd want more on Thursday, but would be interested in more on Monday night.

I also enjoy TNF. It's like an appetizer to NFL Sunday.

That said, I don't have NFL Network so unless it's a local game, I miss it. But it is a good watch if you're at the bar.

Why not just bump the start times up for teams that play on MNF?

And aside from the obvious $$$, what's the positives in having multiple games on Mondays?

Money is the only positive that matters. I guess you could make the argument replacing the Thursday night game with an extra Monday night game would help on the player safety side of things because you've eliminated the short week.

Small bit of good PR for the NFL before extending the schedule to 18 games.

I hate the TV scheduling in Canada.

Ravens-Steelers game is airing on 3 diff networks(CTV,CBS,SN)...meanwhile, Browns-Packers game isn't on a single channel in Canada.

There's only 4 games on during that timeslot and about 6 or so networks to air them on, yet somehow Canadian tv scheduling can't even get that right.

                            Thursday night games are awful.

I'm against anything that weakens the the "event" that Sundays have become.

Yes! More games on Thursday mean less on Sunday. I dont have unlimited time to dedicate to football anymore like when I was younger. I hate seeing only 2 or 3 late games on a Sunday especially if none if those games are good matchups. With the Thursday game and MNF game plus teams having bye weeks there's less Sunday action than I'd like.

I'm talking to some buddies of mine and we're discussing how Larry Fitzgerald could have been the greatest wide receiver of all-time had he had a franchise quarterback with him. The dude has had 9 starting quarterbacks in his Cardinals career, and only one has been worth a damn.

Cardinals should trade him while he's in his prime. Get some good draft picks for him. This next draft is said to be loaded with quarterbacks, so why not? They could certainly use a franchise QB.
