Reports are saying it's for his helmet, not launching since he'd already engaged Weeden by the time he leaves his feet.

That fine on Suh reminds me of some of the same stuff James Harrison and Ryan Clark were getting hit with the last few years.

An amazing story, Sean Spence of the Steelers is back at practice, and could play this Sunday. Spence had a horrific knee injury during 2012's preseason, some thought he'd never play again.

I guess I'd need to see another angle then, if he hit with his hands and then shoved off like it looks like in that gif then yeah this shouldn't be a fine or foul.

If his helmet went into his sternum first before shoving him, then yeah that's both, which if all we saw was this picture is what looks like happened:

Even then, it would have probably warranted the smallest of unnecessary roughness fines for that kind of infraction, and his history inflated it. It being that minor is probably why they didn't attempt to suspend him for it. Just a high hit, not flagrant.

I thought some people said that Spence might not play the another year this year?

Left hand hits first, right hand hits second, helmet hits third and finally the chest makes contact. Now, unless Suh is supposed to bend time and space to avoid his helmet from hitting the QB, there is nothing he can do.

The NFL just doesn't want the QBs hit, or defenses to be able to effectively play. The NFL also wants to protect the QBs. The NFL Network had something about what the NFL would look like in 2020. More likely than anything they prophesied (other than ridiculous scores) is the QB wearing a red jersey in game.

One had to believe Suh is getting fined just because of who he is. I don't see anything very egregious about that hit AT ALL.

and i'm not even the biggest Suh fan either.

They seem to be eying the latter part of the year, especially if he does well at practice. At least based on Steelers Depot and Behind the Steel Curtain.

That behind the scenes thing on the NFL Network said they were looking at it because he hit the QB high with his helmet.

Right or wrong, he's just going to have to be more careful than everyone else when it comes to gray area plays

Except this specific play happens to every QB in every game, often more than once. Asking Suh to be more careful with THAT, they might as well just ban him for life and get it over with.

Since when is it illegal to hit a man in his chest? Load of bull on that one. It wasnt a high hit, it was a QB getting blasted by a guy the league has an agenda against; whether deservingly so or not.

You cant hit qbs high, you cant hit them low, you cant hit them in the chest, whats is left for suh to hit?

The best part is you can clearly tell most of the force came from him pushing with his arms too. No reason for Weeden to turn as he fell if that wasn't the case.
