Re: NFL Off Topic
If they are gonna give teams a pentalty for one of its players using the n-word, they might as well do the same for all racial slurs players say or just dont give a penalty at all for it

I don't know how they possibly police it, but it seems sad to me that it has to be policed to begin with.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Kinda sad when a league is more concerned hurtful words than hurtful hits. I'm sure most DLinemen would gladly be called a racial slur if they were promised to not get blocked at the knee. I'm sure guys like Dustin Keller would take the trade-off, as well.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
How does a rule proposal cancel out all of the defenseless receiver and other hits-related legislation that have completely changed the game at some positions. I get your point, but you didn't need to take the hyperbole to 11 to make it.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
They're opening up a whole can of worms if they actually try to police the word more than they do now. And you can believe the race card will no doubt get played, especially in a sport where the majority of your players are Black.
The suits upstairs need to just leave it alone.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I think all slurs are just that...slurs. There shouldn't be a double standard as in "well in this context or said by this person a slur isn't really a slur but in this context or said by this person it is".
This isn't a pickup game of football. It's not just a game anymore. It's a business, an empire, a worldwide brand. How hard is it to really go out there and play the game without using slurs?SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Adding this rule is giving the illusion that the NFL is trying to clean up their league. But its not gonna do anything to change the culture. Its a vapid rule that is completely PR because of the Johnathan Martin, and somewhat Michael Sam situations.
If this was such a major issue the players would police it themselves. you would hear them complain about it and end it. But no, players don't think twice about it because its a non issue. 100% league trying to gain positive attention, after getting flamed recently.
But you telling me its a great thing that a ref is gonna decide that x player said a bad word, 15 yards. GTFO with that bull****. I'd be stunned if the refs threw a single flag next year if this rule went into affect.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
The rule is already on the books, they're just highlighting it with this talk. It'll probably get called more then last year, but I don't think it'll be a flagfest by any means.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: NFL Off Topic
Who is hearing these slurs that the league is worried about their brand? You make it sound like NFL Films and ESPN has players slinging slurs left and right on their programs. You can't hear what players are saying outside of a QBs cadence.

Anyways, I'm simply stating I support the NFL in their efforts to clean up the language. I don't believe I ever said it's a "great thing".SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives
