But realistically, if every year involved a HOF QB being pushed off his only team and forced to find another; an overrated QB stealing headlines bc he's losing his job; a beloved franchise losing their coach for the year after being handed the NFL version of the death penalty for paying to try and injure players then I'm not sure I would call that "greatness".

I will, however, continue to enjoy it.

Seeing Bill Polian on NFL Live saying that Luck will be 1st overall pretty much assures it for me. He pretty much would have known something about it before he got the boot.

Well I'm not hoping for the same kind of circumstances. I was more talking about the insane level of big moves and interesting stories but DIFFERENT to the ones we're seeing right now.

Yep, I hear you... and like I said, I'm tuned in either way. Kind of disappointed in myself for that fact (even started watching sportscenter again, lol).

Unless they're breaking news, watching sportscenter often feels like waiting until tomorrow and reading the paper for news compared to following the right people in Twitter, PFT, NFP.

The Bengals are expanding! They have tripled the size of their scouting department by hiring two people.

Yeah but my life is naturally plugged in so I fight the urge to hit up those sources. Honestly, I don't even have to because I can just come here, lol.

But you're right, I never get information from Sportscenter. But I've been watching more to hear them bumble over the train wrecks going on. It's funny, when they're reporting on games I tune out (can find out what I NEED to know from the ticker, and if I want more analysis and recap I'll get it from somewhere else).

HOF Lem Barney says if he had to do it all over again he would never play football.

Lem Barney, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who is one of the scores of former players suing the NFL over brain injuries, says that he now regrets ever playing football at all.

Lem Barney, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who is one of the scores of former players suing the NFL over brain injuries, says that he now regrets ever playing football at all.

“If I look at the game now and I look back on it retrospectively, if I had another choice I’d never played the game, at all, in my life,” Barney told the Detroit Free Press. “Never. Never. From all-city, all-state, all-conference, all-American, seven times All-Pro, I’m in eight Hall of Fames, it wouldn’t be. It would be golf or tennis. I’m serious. Very serious.”

Surprisingly, Barney says that even though, at the age of 66, he says his health is relatively good. He said he has nerve conditions that cause tingling sensations and prevent him from sleeping more than three or four hours a night, but he can still work full time and is healthier than many of his former teammates.

“I call it blessed,” Barney said of his health. “It’s that type of game. It’s a lethal game. Again, as I tell people, ‘Do you miss the game, Lem?’ And sincerely, I don’t miss the game.”

Barney, who played for the Lions from 1967 to 1977, says no one ever diagnosed him with a concussion while he was playing, because back then players didn’t have doctors looking for concussions. But Barney now believes he had seven or eight concussions. And to him, even the glory of a Hall of Fame career wasn’t worth it.

After last month's Scouting Combine, several incoming draft picks visited PFT Live, and I asked each of them whether they faced any goofy or unusual questions when meeting with teams.

Some of the answers, truly special.

One player was asked to name the four seasons.

“Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and . . . Valentine’s Day,” the player said.

Then the player added, “Wait, I got that wrong. . . . Fourth of July!”

This isn't surprising. Guarantee a lot of these guys were pushed through school b/c of sports. I bet a lot were also on IEP's and given every single accommodation to make sure they were eligible through school.

All in all, you should still know the damn seasons. Or at least name the four seasons.
