Cowboys' LB Sean Lee apparently had to be helped off the field at Cowboys OTAs this afternoon after the rookie guard Zack Martin fell on him; unclear how.
Why can't we have Lee healthy for a full season ever? Is the Cowboys defense not allowed to have nice things? I has a sad.Comment

If enough outroar comes for the team to lose local sponsorships, they would start to lose money. Same way Sterling was pretty much kaput once sponsors started threatening to back out on the league/team.
Also I don't buy it that people would stop being fans/stop going to games if the team changes its name. So that angle of 'losing money if they change their name', I don't agree with at all.Comment

Sterling was kaput when he opened up his ******* mouth and got his butt recorded saying ignorant, bigotry remarks.
Redskins will not lose local sponsorships over this. If anything it will strengthen their resolve as the local fans pull together to fight to keep the name.
The losing money angle isn't about fans. Its about taking an established brand-name and trademark and changing it. Of course it would affect revenue. It'd be like if Coca Cola decided to change their name and famous logos.

Yeah so no team has ever changed its name.
It's going to happen. It may not be next year, or within the next 5 years, but eventually I think the pressure will be too much to just continue on as if it's not a big deal. I get that the area supports their 'Redskins" I also don't buy the idea that people will stop supporting them if they change their name.Comment

I agree the name will eventually be changed. What I don't buy is local residence not supporting them because of the name being what it is now. If the name was changed from something else to Redskins tomorrow than yeah, but the Redskins name has been synonymous with the community there for too long now. The pressure that changes the team name will come nationally anyways, not locally.Comment

Voluntarily when wanting to start fresh? Sure. It happens all the time, but considering the franchise is one of the most valuable franchises in all sports you don't just go changing its likeness.
