Just so we are clear, Spring Practice and contact is a big no no from the NFLPA. It's not really suppose to happen.

I remember Mangini got the Browns fined once because they had a post practice session of contact drills. The NFL is really big on not allowing it.

IIRC the Mangini thing was more forced upon by him and even his own players were complaining about it. I get the sense with the Seahawks that this is a regular part of their M.O. This just further solidifies the fact that the way we think of football is slowly but surely being phased out. I can't imagine how some of the old time coaches could ever function if they coached under these rules.

Actually it was the hit on Torrey Smith he was fined for. I assumed it was the one on Pierce too since he may have got a concussion for that, but that one wasn't even flagged.

And I point it out only to say Merriweather REALLY hasn't learned a thing. He could've easily gotten 4 games or more, for time in a preseason game.

Especially since this was one of the things the players wanted when they were negoatiating the last CBA, IIRC.

You're absolutely allowed to. Just as I am allowed to think it's comical. Just as these professional athletes are allowed to have their own opinion of what is important to them regarding their work.

If you want to berate them for it and refer to them as "****heads", then it shouldn't bother you too much to receive criticism for your own views.

Totally disagree, but I understand some want to push the "LOL FOOTBALL IS DYING" agenda.

You cannot do physical practice in Spring. And it was a stupid thing to do for Carroll.

I love how stats can be worked to make things appear better than they are although I admit I've seen some of Bengals preseason and the use of No Huddle has really worked in Dalton's favor. I still think he'll do well in the regular season only to crumble in the playoffs.

Yeah hue Jackson could be great for that offense. He made Oakland's offense look good with Jason Campbell, Michael Bush, and DHB as the main guys. Imagine he could do wonders with AJ/Gio/Dalton.

I'd like to thank the NFL for effectively ruining any chance of Gordon making a difference NEXT year too.

That was a bull**** appeal process the NFL ran on Gordon and to suspend him for a calender year is next level bull****.

Is Morris Claiborne a bust? If I remember correctly, this dude was hyped up to a lockdown corner etc and I haven't really heard his name since draft night (or that wonderlic score). Being a Jets fan, we dont see them often at all. So can anyone fill me in?
                                He's quickly earning the label.

The biggest problem has been his lack of consistency in terms of health and defensive schemes. The guy simply can not stay healthy to save his life; if it's not a hamstring, it's a shoulder, an elbow or a mental thing (family circumstances). Add to the fact that his strength is man coverage but the defense has shifted to zones. The second half can be more so blamed on Jerry Jones and his shoddy coach-hiring practices. It is quite maddening for Cowboys fans. I wasn't expecting "Deion Sanders" out of him, but I at least expected better than "Terrance Newman".

At this point, I think he'll bust as a Cowboy, and find a second life in another organization and have himself a decent career.
