    NFL Off Topic

I was under the impression that FedEx Field was pretty new, but it is close to 20 now.

About 30 years for new stadiums, these days. Veterans Stadium was about 30 something when they tore it down. With architecture these days, stadiums a couple decades old with no historical significance look dated quickly.

Still seems like jumping the gun a bit, but I totally believe the NFL will push this through as long as Snyder changes the name of the team. He's got leverage. No one likes him anyway, so why appease the public by changing the name with nothing in exchange. This is the perfect game for Snyder. He's going to squeeze every penny and inch out of a new stadium in exchange for changing the name.

    NFL - Buffalo Bills
    MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Apparently Josh Gordon is exploring CFL options to at least play some ball this year. Thing is, the CFL has it in their by-laws that they can't sign any players that are under contract or who've been suspended in the NFL. This came after the whole Ricky Williams thing years ago when he came up north while being suspended. I guess we'll see what happens. BTW take it with a grain of salt as this is all being reported by Mort.

So the Ray Rice Fallout continues with a new domestic violence policy. Six games for 1st offense, lifetime ban for 2nd.

It's a year ban but with no presumption of reinstatement. You can apply for reinstatement after 1 year like the other 1 year suspensions

There is a laundry list of recognizable stars though. I only named Suggs to show this isn't about Ravens bias (or not considering the severity of domestic violence in general).

I agree, the video is why this exploded on social media, but the sports media should know better. Every time they bring up Rice, compare other situations to his for suspensions, etc, etc. they're nothing but huge hypocrites bc NONE of them were reporting on the 100's of players who we know for a fact have done worse and have gotten punished more by the law and less by the league. Many of these guys played next to guys that have.

I'm all for harsher punishment (and just saw there's a new standard) but it's BS that so many are acting like this is the first time anything like this has happened or that Rice's punishment was out of line in comparison. I wish the narrative was just that a harsher punishment needed to be in place rather than Goddell dropping the ball.

Most importantly though, it has no place in a discussion about Gordon. Even Gordon's "apology" was basically saying "I'm sorry the NFL didn't do what they should have." That kid deserves what he gets and I really hope they don't let him play in the CFL. Get your **** together and grow up.

What public is he appeasing though. People in Washington (the Skins fans) are on his side when it comes to the name change.

I doubt his NFL contract allows him to play for another league, no way they allow it with the chance of getting hurt. The Browns need to prepare for him to never step on the field again. Same thing as Blackmon, no where has he taken responsibility for his mistakes/failures. Unless he comes to terms and at least stops and cuts ties with everyone while he is still playing, he will be caught again.

Prior to reading your post, I was about to say that I'd be shocked if that Lifetime Ban actually held any weight, if any player were dumb enough to get that 2nd offense.

Cleveland has apparently already come out and said there isn't a chance in hell they'll allow it. Good effort though. Gordon's only play at this point besides just doing his time off the field would be to try to take the NFL to court and threaten his reinstatement on a chance that he could delay the suspension and play this year.

I'd be surprised if he got an injunction because by the letter of the rules he's unlikely to get it overturned, and with it being collectively bargained and not a class-action-style suit a la concussions he'd probably get stuck in arbitration anyways.

If his career is effectively over because he's too much of a screwup to keep his nose clean all he's got to lose is money either way.
