NFC West team is gonna get screwed again. Cardinals, Seahawks last three games are division games. I'm seriously having a heart attack thinking about it

      Re: NFL Off Topic

I love how much weight division games carry in the NFL. It's one of the few leagues where division really matters, with a shout out to MLB. It's not old school thinking on my part either: I'd embrace adding a 3rd WC per conference to be able to include those potential 11 win teams who will miss out.

I don't put much weight in home/away these days either. I hardly even think about it when assessing games. We've seen the mighty home field advantages fall this year already.

Besides, let's not act like the Saints are that awful. They got off to a rough start with close losses and are probably closer to a respectable 8-8, 9-7 team then their current record. If the Panthers or Bucs somehow win the division then it becomes somewhat of a farce, but shouldn't the 5th place WC team be happy about lucking into playing an average team instead of bemoaning having to go on the road? Do they think home field advantage makes up for the 3-4 win difference?

The last line says it all: Jerry Jones doesn't want JerryWorld to be empty should the Cowboys win a WC and have to travel to the NFC South's winner house. It's not about competition, it's about money.

He's spot on and that's probably my favorite radio segment of the week. Cooley does a great job.

Crazy thing is that was his evaluation of the TB game. Griffin played WORSE against SF (imo). Other than the Jet QBs, I think that was the worse performance by a QB I've seen this year. I was trying to hear Cooley's take on that yesterday but got distracted and missed it.

I love the division setup, but am 100% OK with winning them just earning you a playoff berth and overall record mattering more when being seeded against your other playoff competitors. I expect that will happen within a couple of years, with playoff expansion happening about the same time eliminating one of the byes.

Of course it's all about the money, and the PR too. That's their business, this isn't the Olympics.

Only thing I don't like about Cooley's breakdowns is that (because he is on Redskins radio) he is too generous. Its to be expected but still. He will give a guy a (for example) a 7.0 grade that could easily be a 5.5 of 5.0. But like I said that's to be expected.

That's true but the grades don't really do much for me anyway. I just really like the detailed break down of different areas. I liked the break downs you were doing too for the same reason. Like somebody said (SteelersFreak?), you don't get that on ESPN.

Lions won't wear their throwbacks tomorrow. One of the Detroit beat writers says that the NFL doesn't want teams wearing 3rd unis during national games. That's lame. I remember Matrix complaining during one of the Texans national TV games that they didn't wear the red unis that day. Guess I know why now.

The story about Devon Stills Baby mother asking for child support to help support her financially really rubbed me the wrong way since why would she even put their personal stuff out in the public when he has been doing a great thing with helping out his daughter who he is legally obligated to help out not her lazy gold digging self lol

That story on T. Smith is a real eye opener (well, if I hadn't already seen the one on Jack Johnson). It's hiya be a really tough line to draw, between yourself and your family. Can't blame Smith, although without the other side, it does look like they tried to take advantage of him.

The Johnson story is much worse, if you can believe it.

I will never understand why Cleveland drafted Manziel if they were locked into Hoyer. Seems like a wasted first round pick. They should sign Hoyer. Trade Manziel. Best for both poo parties

I would say bring Manziel to New York to play for the Jets but that would be a disaster with his shenanigans

No. Hoyer is very very average and helped very much by play calling.
