I guess as long as it doesn't cost taxpayers anything. But seriously with some of these demands NFL?
The Chicago Tribune acquired the list that the NFL sent to Choose Chicago, which is the nonprofit agency that’s organizing the event.
The list has dozens of requests that the NFL doesn’t plan on paying for:
Closing stretches of road around Grant Park and Congress Plaza for nearly three weeks.
Free WiFi and other technology for the NFL and its partners.
Free parking for NFL staff, TV crews, and production trucks.
Free parking at draft venues and free police escorts for prospective draft picks and NFL “dignitaries.”
Outdoor space for a “village” for about 15 “sponsor activation zones.”
Football fields for youth clinics and events for five days.
Three “Party Spaces” for NFL events.
Commitments from 13 hotels to reserve rooms for prospective players, NFL staff and others.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

The conversation in the commissioner's office...
"You know Roger, we could really learn something from the corruption and greed of the IOC."
"You're right, Susan, we could be taking advantage of people far more than we currently are. Great idea, but I'm going to have to demote you because you make too much money."
"Uh, that's not what I...ah **** it."Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
While I was interning at the Seattle Weekly last year we got a memo about everything the NFL was going to do for the opening game with the Seahawks. We were literally down the street from CenturyLink Field and the whole area was basically going to be shut off. I was out of their by the start of the season, but no one else in the office was too thrilled.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Saw something like this from FIFA or something. These leagues/organizations are ridiculous. Unless they're really pulling in dough, it's almost not worth it. There will always be one, though.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: NFL Off Topic
Yeah, last I read many world cup locations are worse off after than they were before the cup. Brazil set the high mark at over $15b spent on facilities, I believe some of which might not ever get used again due to location or something.

Re: NFL Off Topic
If you want an example of just how bad the IOC and other organizations are you need look no further than Montreal where the Olympic Stadium bills are STILL being paid for by taxpayers. On the other hand Calgary and Vancouver have kept most of their facilities open from their Olympics. In fact, the speed skating and bobsled tracks in Calgary are still used fairly regular not only for Canadian athletes but for other athletes in the world.
It all comes down to how you plan things, most of the cities that win Olympic bids are very myopic in their view and that's how they get into these kind of problems. I know that in Greece their facilities have gone into disrepair from lack of use.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

UGH! Well...It's not like he's never been to Buffalo before. He did play fairly well in his first stint considering the circumstances. Hopefully the year away from the game has humbled him and he can be less of a hothead because other than losing his mind off and on the field he can actually block pretty damn well.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
