Just saw this on the ESPN bottom line. Its hard not to laugh, and my team is probably equally dysfunctional.

I wish the Rockies over in baseball would try what the Browns just did.

I wonder how Chud feels about all this.

Figured Lombardi was on the way out. The handling of the coaching search was poor, and not to mention Haslem has a trigger finger. Ray Farmer promoted to GM

I read that Haslem walked into a staff meeting, said the two were gone, and walked back out without saying anything else.

Sounds like a great place to work!

So is Pettine already on the hot seat then? I saw somewhere on twitter that Farmer wasn't even a part of the head coach interview process. This is crazy.

The best part is he does all that firing and STILL promotes from within. What a zoo.

I think Haslem fires a person to calm his nerves each time his lawyer gives him bad news.

                      What the hell?

Maybe Banner/Lombardi thought they could get a top notch coach if they could get rid of this meddling Chud! It backfired, they settled for Option E (who was a fine DC... Not sure if it'll translate to HC), and Haslem had to do this.

This is definitely a better move then firing Chud was. Lombardi is a clown, and Cleveland will be better off.

Still, the instability is disarming. I wonder if the NFL will step in and say hey, don't completely alienate the city and fans. The bad product on the field has done enough of that.

Even as a fan of the Browns biggest rivals I can't help but feel sorry for them. Nobody deserves to be a fan of such a poorly run organization. I feel sorry for all the quality players that have been stuck in Cleveland anytime in the past 15 years too.

                          My Gawd!

The Browns are attempting to make the last years of Al Davis' ownership look tame by comparison. This is a complete and total screw up. I had a feeling that Lombardi and Co. would be on the hot seat due to the bungled coaching search but to fire them before giving it a shot and before the draft is just....Well I feel bad for Browns fans.

Article about what may have caused it all to unfold

Officially, there's no one moment that caused Browns owner Jimmy Haslam to lose faith in his former management team of CEO Joe Banner and G.M.

King writes at TheMMQB.com that Banner had strong opposition to the possible hiring of fired Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano, while owner Jimmy Haslam was intrigued. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer had called to recommend Schiano. Patriots coach Bill Belichick called. Twice.

While that could have been the last straw, King points to other evidence, such as an awkward moment between Banner and Ken Whisenhunt, when Whisenhunt interviewed for the job a second straight year and wanted to know why he didn’t get the gig the prior year. Banner reportedly didn’t think Whisenhunt had compiled a “championship coaching staff,” Whisenhunt openly questioned Banner’s ability to make that assessment, and a seed may have been planted for Haslam.
I dont understand the Manning thing at the end. The comparison doesn't really fit with John Elway who co-owned and ran a lesser football team for a few years prior to joining the Broncos again.
