Best thing to come out of Philly patting was with Kelly for me is a rumor started by a Patriots "insider" on Twitter. He claims "sources" are saying Kelly will become Patriots OC after McDaniels leaves to take a head coaching gig this offseason. Plan being to give Kelly one or two years to become acclimated with New England before Belichick retires to a GM role. Making Kelly the head coach in waiting.

For pure entertainment purposes I say let's do it. Always have enjoyed a good circus. Fans and media would lose their ****.

Kelly is such an egomaniac I don't see how he fits in with the Patriots "team structure". But if Belichick can reign him in, and if he's a bit humble after the Philly experience it could work out.

Through this all Kelly saga, the real opportunity that was missed was by Howie Roseman... He could've channeled his inner Ray Patterson.

Making a college coach in his 3rd year on the job the "GM" was the beginning of the end. There are not enough hours in the day to be the coach of an NFL team and manage personnel. It's almost a guarantee that once a coach gets that control its only a matter of time before they are replaced.

It's speaks to the arrogance and confidence it takes to do be a good head coach, for better or worse IMO.

Well the Eagles better be careful what they wish for.

It could be like the 49ers, who wished to get rid of Harbaugh and ended up with ... Tomsula.

442 points and 10-6 with Michael Vick and Nick Foles as the starting QBs in year one; 474 points and 10-6 with Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez as the starting QBs in year two.

Coach Chip Kelly was a success. GM Chip Kelly is dead and buried.

BTW on the Eagles front, Ray Didinger is saying Gruden is a viable candidate for the job.

that foles season i still can't believe it. I really only think 2 personnel mistakes were letting Maclin go but he wanted go to KC and obviously the Murray one. also I'm not x and o guy but i feels like they were running a different offense than the 1st couple years. He should get another shot.

Those are nice numbers when they stand alone like that.

Would like to see the defensive numbers. That defense wore down from being on the field too often. Not sure where they ended up, but they absolutely nosedived the second half of the season. Even with Kelly's sports science and conditioning. Part of that is on the players and defensive coaches, but it's not a good strategy to constantly put your defense in bad situations.

Seemed like when it was bad, it was BAD. Offense couldn't move the ball and the defense was gassed a quarter in to the game. You can't have valleys in performance like that. It sucks the life out of the team and fans and snowballs the negativity.

Kelly is a pretty decent coach in the NFL. But like PPM said, it's that extra baggage that wore down the team, fans, and ownership.

It could work in the right place but I think he'll always wear on his players at the professional level. College he can probably get away with being more of a dictator.

Personally, I can't give even due props to a coach who thought Riley Cooper was worth more than Deshawn Jackson, Lesean McCoy, etc.

He might have made due with what he had when he came into the league, but Chip Kelly can Electric Slide his *** the **** out of all levels of football, as far as I'm concerned.

My point is that he made Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez work. I feel confident in saying that there aren't many coaches in the league who could have done that. Nick Foles post-Chip Kelly and Mark Sanchez pre-Chip Kelly kind of indicate this.

As long as he doesn't have control over personnel, he's an excellent hire.

There'll be enough head coach openings in the NFL that I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Chip has a HC job next season. I hear there's a guy in Tennessee who's played for him before.

I agree although I'm not sure how his release works when it comes to that $13 mil.

Indy and Miami aren't bad options considering they have stable QBs (although they under performed this year). Assuming Indy fires Pagano which they should.

He will most definitely stay in the NFL though. Like Psyblast said, he doesn't like the alumni/booster/recruiting aspect and I'm sure his tenure in Philly will make him want to prove his naysayers wrong even more.
