No arm, yes. No legs, yes. (Sorry Lt Dan)

But he was still Peyton friggin' Manning. Making calls and decisions that very few other QBs could do. I'd honestly be shocked if the Broncos go far this year. Think they either

      Re: NFL Off Topic

I'm not one who makes predictions or prognostications but I'll give my thoughts.

I'm far more confident now after watching Siemien then I was when the Broncos lost Brock to FA. He has impressed me far more than I thought he would and I knew they were very high on him last year even as a QB who never dressed. He knows this offense as good as anyone and (don't accuse me of him being Manning because he isn't) he did get to spend a year learning how to prepare with Manning and by all accounts he puts in the same amount of work, which I understand doesn't equate to ability.

I do believe though that his time is destined to be short and he's playing now to hopefully get a contract elsewhere. I see this playing out much like the Cutler situation played out in 2006 and would not at all be shocked to see Lynch after the bye week (assuming it's mid way through and not one of the earlier ones).

Those in Denver will have a better vibe on what the natives think than I do but from what I've read it seems like Kubiak likes him as much as he does because he reminds him of himself which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Long story short, the defense should keep them afloat and I'm not terrified of going into the year with Siemien but he's probably more of a stopgap.

I think a lot of people here in Denver believe that Sieman is a legit "good QB."

I don't think I agree, but I am in the minority here. Elway and Kubiak both like him a lot, and I know Elway loves Paxton Lynch (he's made that pretty clear).

Honestly, I think all Siemian has to do is not suck and we can win 9-10 games with our defense and hopefully a solid run game.

Out of Sanchez, Siemian, and Lynch I do think that Siemian was/is the best choice for week 1.

Yeah unless he's just ridiculous, which is probably the least likely outcome regardless of how good anyone thinks he is, it's going to be Lynch's team soon enough. Teams, fans, and the media can make a QB controversy out of a situation like this very easily.

Kubiak isn't afraid to make a tough QB decision. Obviously this is different then last year by a long shot, but still, I love that he didn't just hand the ball to Sanchez and rightfully so. I could see Siemian being successful but not exactly lighting it up and that being the reason they go to Lynch like how they did with Cutler. Elway handpicking him seals that deal, IMO.

I did laugh at the Kubiak comparison and accompanying comment. He seems to be a pretty good coach though. Not on a tier with Belichick (who is?) or even someone like Arians, but I like his offensive philosophy and he made Houston into a playoff team for the first time ever plus guided a loaded Denver team to the promise land. Easier said then done.

I think Siemien is a good placeholder so those in the Denver media and fanbase must be smoking up that wacky tobacky just a bit. He's the kind of guy that won't mess up the bed too much though don't be surprised to see some INTs that make you go "WTF". Lynch will be the starter next year unless Siemien somehow finds lightning in a bottle.

It was hilarious today. Radio guys talking about how no one is giving him credit for beating out Sanchez and a 1st rounder.

Sanchez lost that job more than Siemian won it. He was average in the preseason against vanilla defenses. It'll be really interesting to see what happens to him on Thursday.

Awesome so the tourists are paying for it. Pretty slick way to get around public funding.

Steelers fans have been singing, "Here we go, Steelers, here we go" since before you and I were born. Just to clarify.

There isn't a more common phrase among the fan base and coming up with something new and trendy like other teams with no tradition have done would not be a good fit.

So the NFL has suspended Bills O-lineman Seantrel Henderson due to marijuana in his system BUT traces of marijuana is used for medicinal purposes to combat Crohn's Disease. If the NFL doesn't recognize this for what it is and upholds the suspension then it just shows some major hypocrisy.

I'm not sure hypocrisy is the right word to use here.

It would actually be more hypocritical for him to overturn it since every player says they use marijuana to reduce pain or something like "that substance was in so and so and I didn't know I was taking it."

Overturning the suspension for someone using it to kill pain sets up a precedent that there is no way the NFL should do.

Sounds like he was using it recreational anyway and his history with it in college isn't going to help him here.

Unless he can prove he has tried all other treatments and they didn't work, he has no case. Then he would need to get approval from the league and stay within a certain level established by the treatment.
