NFL announces 4-game PED suspension for Bears WR Alshon Jeffrey. Will cost him $3.6 million now, potentially more on UFA market in March.

Damn, well hopefully it'll give the Bills a chance at him if they pursue his services.

Random question because I'm not in-tune with the Steelers whatsoever:

At 4-5, is Mike Tomlin on the hot seat?

The Steelers have had 3 coaches in like 60 years. I doubt he's anywhere near the hot seat. It's just not how they do it.

I wonder if there was ever a time when Steeler Fans wanted Cowher gone due to not winning SB until 05?

Meanwhile, fans want coaches gone after 3 years nowadays.

It always depended on if they won the previous week or lost.

I seem to recall late in the Kordell Stewart Era some folks were getting pretty antsy though i'm not certain. I'm sure a longtime Steeler fan can give some more accurate info.

I know that he was LOVED by them even before he won. Unless that NFL Films making him seem like he was a bigger deal than what he was.

It hasn't been 3 coaches in 60 years, but close (48 seasons). Chuck Noll from 1969-91, Bill Cowher from 1992-2006 and Mike Tomlin from 2007-present.

Tomlin is not on the hot seat. There is almost no such thing in Pittsburgh. The organization values continuity over a quick fix and there's alot to be said for that, considering the team's success over the last 5 decades.

I have been a fan since I was 5 (I'm 42) and I've never, personally, wanted a head coaching change. Tomlin has lost several games over the years due to poor clock management and other silliness but his record speaks for itself.

Furthermore, I don't think this will be much of a question in 7 weeks. As I said yesterday, the Steelers opponents to date are about 20 games over .500 while their last 7 opponents are about 20 games under .500.

I still think, with that in mind, that they'll right the ship this year. I could be wrong but I like their chances (unless a devastating injury or series of them occurs).

                      We'll see.

I absolutely hope that Tomlin is NOT on the hot seat...IMO, the man is one of the best coaches and leaders in the NFL. Belichek is probably the only other coach I'd take over him if I was looking for a coach.

It's always about injury. Yesterday was just a good game... sometimes you take an L, there's only one winner. But before that, Ben's injury rocked the boat as would be expected. Brown getting dinged up through that time (while literally every other WR on the roster has also been OUT due to injury) doesn't help. Bell was out earlier and the back up is out for a couple of weeks... and did we mention the center?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers got on a roll, and wouldn't be surprised if another injury is the straw that breaks the back. Just how it is in the NFL. That's actually why I do have a problem with only focusing on skill players and when they're on the field. Too many variables to put that much weight on them, and many aren't playing close to 100% but still suiting up. I'm glad no one is hammering Ben for his performance against the Ravens... he shouldn't have been playing in that game.

Tomlin is not the problem. The defensive coordinator is the problem. The steelers have always been known for their tough defenses but no one fears their d anymore. Tomlin and hot seat shouldn't even be in the same sentence.

The thing is, their defense hasn't intimidated for a few years now.

The question is, is it the coordinator or is it a lack of talent (due to poor drafting)?

Tomlin is a defensive coach man, this is his scheme.
