Well he has only one year and then he's a UFA.

Whoever gets him after next season will be paying him big money, unless he chooses to re-sign with the Pats for a second-string salary?

Unless Brady shows signs of decline next season, Pats will probably look to trade Garoppolo, like they did Jones and Collins?

Then it will be a buyer's market, if it isn't already.

If Brady is going to be QB1 in 2019 and 2020, then there's no way they can sign Garoppolo to a starter's contract.

      Teams know this.

Its smart for them to start high, but he's thrown 93 career passes. Any team that trades a first for him has to then also give him a new contract in 2017 after his rookie deal is up. Nobody's gonna do a first round pick for that.

This has to be one of the best interviews a Patriot has ever given. https://twitter.com/sullybunz/status/814573527093444608

I think you are the best poster on this site that does a great job asking the questions that you know no one here has a way of knowing the answer to.

            Kudos.

As a Bear fan, I want no part of giving up a first and fourth round pick for Jimmy G. He might not be Cassell, but I don't want to find out if he is in fact the second coming for that price. I'm good with a stop gap while this team does what they should have been doing and drafting young QBs to develop and see how they turn out.

Even if we don't have answers, because we can't get in the heads of what NFL GMs are thinking, some of the questions need to be asked.

Big NFL trades don't seem as common as those in MLB.

Especially those involving a possible rental situation because of Garoppolo's contract situation.

Hey but maybe the Pats will get their asking price. Any GM who pays it should lose his job if Garoppolo doesn't work out on that team.

It won't matter, because everyone is going to be trying to get McGloin after this playoff run!

Homerism aside, a 1st is a lot to give up for an unproven QB that you're going to have to pay like a proven one, particularly when rookie QBs are dirt cheap. You just have to look at teams like Seattle, Oakland (sorry >_>), and, I'd assume, Dallas, moving forward, to see it in action, build a team with the money you save at QB.

So for which team with Tyrod Taylor be starting next year? His will be an interesting case study. What would he be able to muster in Jacksonville with those pass catching options compared to Bortles?

My guess is Denver. Elway has always loved him and won't be afraid to jump on the chance to get him.

(Not saying I necessarily like it, I just know he's always loved him)

Personally I don't want him to but if I were the GM/coach he would have started full time about week 10. Gotta throw him in at some point.

I just wouldn't past Elway to go and get the guy he's always loved and bring him in to "compete."

Coughlin would never take Tyrod in Jacksonville.

Oooh, Taylor in Denver could be fun.

I'm really interested in what he fetches on the open market. He's good enough to get a good chunk of money, but does anyone think he's worth that top 10 QB money? I want to see who jumps. Especially as it ties in to the recent Jimmy G talk.

I'm gonna be pissed off if a team gets him on a bargain deal. But I wouldn't blame him for leaving if he A) gets that paper, B) goes to a contender, C) gets to stick it to the Bills after this recent fiasco.

We don't get nice things in Buffalo. And if and when we do, we find a way to piss it away.
