That is why they would franchise him to get the two picks if a team signed him. Malcontent, how mad can he really be making $24.5 million guaranteed (or whatever the number will be). Or in Cousins' case $43 million over the last two years. Ideally they want to sign him longterm, but have the cap space to absorb another franchise year.

Your tone gives the impression you think that Cousins is a mediocre QB who is a malcontent and more trouble than all of this is worth.

I think you're just not close enough to the situation and haven't really followed him/them since RGIII was starting.

Cousins happily took the franchise tag last year and would do the same this year (it'd guarantee A LOT more than the $16mil figure you through out before). He's also breaking franchise passing records left and right. I still don't think SF would be smart to give up the #2 pick for him, but he has done plenty (and plenty with Shannahan specifically) for it to at least make some sense why both sides would put some effort into getting/keeping him.

Raiders reassured the stadium authority a short time ago that get don't expect financing in Las Vegas to be an issue and will be resolved in the next few weeks before the NFL committees get together in early March.

Welp...It's not looking good for Tyrod Taylor and the Bills. Reports are circulating that he's "unwilling" to take a paycut to stay in Buffalo and that the Bills are seriously considering moving on if that's the case.

Ironic end to the saga. As D’Qwell Jackson, who was at the genesis of defaltegate is cut after testing positive for PEDs.

Not surprising at all. Taylor's in a great position. Either he gets the full life of the contract we signed him to if we pick up his option, or he hits the open market where there's a good chance he'll get close to if not more then what we have him signed at.

Worst case for him, the market rejects him and he comes back and it's all chalked up to "business being business."

With the way Buffalo has scapegoated him to a degree, I don't blame the guy one bit. Go see what's out there, Tyrod. I'd love to have him back at a better price if he isn't able to find a suitor.

Bills are gonna lose a decent starter and have an unsigned EJ Manuel and a raw Cardale Jones as options at QB going in to the draft.

Remember when we drafted EJ and he won the QB battle by default because we had Jeff Tuel and Thad Lewis as options before we signed Kyle Orton off his couch? This reminds me of that. Fun times.

Well at least new details have emerged. He's willing to restructure his cap hit but not take an actual pay cut. So there's a glimmer of hope.

No...but forgive me, it just really seems simple. If he is the guy the Redskins want then they would sign him to a long-term deal. If he is not, then why would another team want to give up multiple first round picks for him?

I'm not questioning his ability either way. The whole thing situation just seems silly.

Bill Maher had a New Rules joke this week about the Universal symbol for choking now being the Falcons logo.

                          Ouch.

I don't think a very unoriginal joke by Bill Maher is going to make the Falcons feel worse than they already do.

That's part of the joke. Rarely delve into sports so this outsider is piling on the poor Falcons.
