    Re: NFL Off Topic

The video is not good, and I expect a suspension. but the hyperbole surrounding it is a but obnoxious. It wasn't brutal. The worst hit came when he ran into another guy that pushed the guy into the girl. The kick was more like he tipped her over.

And while you never hit a girl, she was spoiling for that fight in a pretty big way. The cops dropped because it wasn't something that anyone would have gotten arrested over. But TMZ has been able to give it more traction by their headline and the frames they decided to use for pics in the story.

People equating this to Ray Lewis are really not being fair. Hunt will need to to be punished for putting himself in the situation and not handling it like an adult, but people are drawing some really weak comparisons.

See now, the NFL could've made this so much easier on themselves. I think the automatic punishment for domestic abuse/violence against women stuff is 6 games. Since she didn't press charges I could see them suspending him the first 4 games and leave it at that. Yet here we are, the NFL freaked out about this, covered it up and now it's out in the open in such a way that they're going to get roasted.

I tweeted as much but anyone comparing it to what happens in the Ray Rice video haven't watched it recently. Even now, that's tough to watch. This video is... shoving? The worst act is Kareem getting punched in the face by a woman, lol.

Anyways, a professional woman beater has chimed in.

Yeah, anyone equating this with Ray Rice obviously needs to watch that video again. This is still pretty bad but let's not over-exaggerate.

Listen, it's not as bad Ray Rice, but let's not pretend like this isn't a big deal and start throwing around words like hyperbole. Kareem Hunt is an NFL running back who intentionally bull rushed forward his own friend in the back that was standing in front of the girl, let's not try to work out some second grade playground logic as if it's not that bad because he didn't directly touch her there. What the hell did he think was going to happen ramming his friend in the back that's standing in front of her? Exactly what did happen. He knocked them both over and the force knocked her head first into a wall. Then while he didn't "violently" kick her, she was already down on the ground clearly dazed from what he did and he uses his foot to knock her back over? Get out of here with this mess.

The league can't get out of it's own way. All they had to do was suspend the dude a few games to start the year and avoid any possibility of someone bringing it back up later to cause a backlash and they couldn't even do that. With their history on this issue and everything with the #MeToo movement and all this stuff there is no way they should have to have videos come out to address a domestic violence issue.

I said Hunt should get suspended. You say that Hunt should have gotten suspended. Why is the NFL not addressing this sooner making it worse than it was before for Hunt?

And saying Hunt brutalized her, punched and licked her, that is all hyperbole, because that's not what happens in the video. He was drunk and throwing a drunk girl out of his apartment. That's him being a moron.

But there was nothing on that video that deserved to be charged wit ha crime. The NFL has every right to expect its players to act bettering suspend him for it.

This says everything you need to know about the league and how it handles issues like this. I just looked at the NFL’s website. This is their front page.

Not a single mention of this story on the front page of the NFL’s website. Not a single mention of the fact that Hunt has been sent home from the practice by the Chiefs. The optics are just horrid for a league under the microscope for this stuff.

You really need to ask this question? It's worse because they did nothing and NOW they have to suspend the man because a video has come out in December for an incident that happened back in February. Because they've gotten this domestic violence issue utterly and horribly wrong time and time again. The Ray Rice incident was handled so poorly that they vowed to learn from it and get it right and yet here we are again and it looks like the NFL doesn't care now. Instead of nipping the problem in the bud, instead of actually investigating what happened and taking a look at the video and determining what the public backlash would be if they didn't address the incident, they did nothing because they either didn't know the video existed and thought as long as it didn't they didn't have to do anything because they wouldn't be in trouble or they viewed it and were STILL stupid enough not to just cut the head off this snake before it got to the public. Right now, it looks like they only give a **** about their players putting their hands on women if there's video that can make them look bad as opposed to ACTUALLY taking a zero tolerance stance on the issue like they give lip service that they do.

I don't think anyone here is minimizing this at all. Violence against women of any kind is disgusting and dishonorable. It's more talking about the VOLUME of the outrage. You don't need to scream your head off about it because it isn't as egregiously violent as Ray Rice. There are levels of violence. That being said, the league should be crucified for covering this up and this further shows that the NFL doesn't give a damn about anyone when it comes to damaging "The Shield".

I won't lose any sleep if somehow Kareem Hunt never plays another down in the NFL. (though I think that would take it a little too far) If it takes draconian actions to show that this kind of behavior is not encouraged or tolerated than so be it. Hunt made his bed and he has to lay in it. I've been a strong proponent of protecting and listening to women who are wronged by men because as a gender we men have done so much crap it isn't even funny.

                            Re: NFL Off Topic

I asked why it should be worse for Hunt.

I get that the NFL should have handled this better. They probably saw it as a case in which charges were not warranted and no one suffered serious injuries. Still not sure if the NFL was aware of the video, but they probably should have been. I think merely acting aggressive towards the woman is enough to get a 2 game suspension. So I still think Hunt sits for this.

But the video is still not what people are making it out to be. There was one terrible moment, and in that moment, Hunt never touched the woman. He ran into guy that ran into the woman. The kick was condescending and rude, but it wasn't even a kick. He tipped her over and did not injure her.

And while nothing excuses violence against women (or anyone, really), this was not a case of a him trapping a woman and beating her. She was kicked out of his apartment and kept coming back. He should have gone back into his room apartment and called the cops.

                            https://www.inquisitr.com/4783723/ka...-in-his-group/
Abigail’s friend allegedly tried to get Ottinger to leave but reported that Abigail “really wanted to stay,” becoming “very dramatic” and “very upbeat” upon getting kicked out. The convoluted tale goes on to describe a scene of a female from Hunt’s group getting hit in the face by Abigail, she alleged, when trying to get the two 19-year-olds to leave the hallway after 30 minutes.

Ottinger, on the other hand, claims Kareem came out of his apartment and pushed her, which caused abrasions and scratches when she allegedly fell. The police report claims “all the boys” started “chasing” Abigail. Attempts to record the incident involved one of the women’s phones getting taken.
Again, Hunt should never have walked out of his apartment. But that woman was outside his door for 30 minutes after they got kicked out. There is a reason the police did not press charges. Ottinger was reported for an assault herself.

But had Hunt just called the police himself and not walked into the hallway, he would be much better off. But this is not an incident like Ray Rice. It's nothing close.

Yeah I just read the new info and hoo boy, this is one crazy story. the quoted part of your post is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I read the info about Ottinger. Why didn't he just call the cops and stay in his room?! I know it's tough to hear some crazed woman hurling racial epithets and banging on your door but you got to know that when you're a public figure even if you're doing something that might seem reasonable in the heat of the moment it's going to look bad no matter what.
