Re: NFL Off Topic
I think the Browns are going to flop/not do as expected. They are the trendy pick, etc, but there is always that team that "wins the offseason" and then it doesn't work out on the field."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Over Under on years left with Cam starting for the Panthers?
Second shoulder surgery...reworking the throwing motion late in his career...which, interestingly, could go either way. He wasn't a great passer before, maybe this fixes or improves that a little? Just as likely, I think, is a sharp decline...

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
At this point, I wouldnt be surprised.
Although SB will be in 2020, this past decade we've seen Blackhawks,Bruins,Kings,Capitals,Blues,Mavs,Warrio rs,Cavs,Raptors,Giants,Royals,Cubs,Astros,Saints,S eahawks,Eagles all break 30+ year old championship droughts or just win their first ever title.
Wonder who's next in the NFL? 19 teams have either never won or have gone 25+ years without one.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I feel like they're being overly optimistic on Pittsburgh. There's always at least one surprise team that makes it. I'm biased and hope that would be Buffalo but it's most likely JAX.
I think the Packers and Saints picks are tenuous. Packers for the fact that I really think there's going to be an adjustment period between Rodgers and the new coaching staff. They're already butting heads about how much freedom he has in calling plays at the LOS. As for New Orleans, the way they lost last year and the fact that Brees is older (his production started to slow down towards the end of last year) makes me think they'll probably make the playoffs but I wouldn't dismiss the idea of things going off the rails.Comment

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
- I think only one team from the NFC North gets in, be it the Bears, Packers, or Vikings. I don't know which one of those three is better than the others. Packers by default I guess because they still have the best QB in that division by miles, though I think the Bears and Vikings both have better rosters in totality.
- Rams might be due for a step back? I worry about Todd Gurley and I still don't think Jared Goff is very good; I wouldn't re-sign him, anyway. I could see the Rams getting edged out in the division by Seattle (though I hate how they run their offense nowadays). San Francisco is good enough to at least be feisty, and I have no read on Arizona right now; maybe they shock everyone and are competitive. NFC West ultimately feels like a one-bid division as well.
- I'm in full sell mode on the Steelers because I don't believe in addition by subtraction and further I don't think present-day Ben Roethlisberger is very good. There are at least a dozen quarterbacks I'd take ahead of him right now. That probably qualifies as a hot take.
- I'm pumping the brakes a bit on the Browns. They have made some splashy moves but I think they might be one more year away. More importantly, I want to see Baker Mayfield take another step. I might be underselling him, but to me right now he's basically a reincarnated and more likeable version of the Denver iteration of Jay Cutler. I want to see him be better than that; if he's not, then IMO Cleveland is gonna be stuck in 8-8 territory for a while. Still an improvement over most of the past two decades, admittedly, but I don't want to crown him too soon.
- By default I think the two above points mean I like the Ravens more than ESPN does. This doesn't make me very comfortable, admittedly, but John Harbaugh is probably a top five head coach in the league still IMO, so I trust he and his staff can figure it out.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I don't get the infatuation with the Browns. Yeah, they *might*
Haven't people learned already that teams like the Browns, Lions, Jets, Raiders, Jaguars, Texans, Redskins, etc are "prove it and prove it for multiple years on end or we'll just keep ignoring you cuz it's the same old ****" franchises?
Honey traps are just that. Sports fans are the worst with recognizing patterns.Comment
