He's a bit raw for top 15, but the athleticism is off the charts and I can't think of a single time this staff has missed with a defensive player. The signing of Jones and drafting Irvin upgrades the pass rush on 3rd down. All that's left is drafting another LB and this defense is set. Lots of potential for an already top 10 defense.

The talent still on the board is incredible. Martin, Glenn, Hill, Massey, Jeffery, Randle, David...all of those guys could be day 1 starters and eventual stars.

Really excited to see who Miami gets in round 2 with all those good receivers still on the board. Of course, no matter what Miami does the rest of the draft, I am a happy Dolphins fan.

Yeah, saw that. I just think Irvin is a great fit. He is probably a reach at 15, but if Carroll/Schneider thinks he's the best pass rushing option then I'm inclined to trust them given their recent track record on defense. I think he does exactly what this defense needed most, and that's get to the QB.

Give me a Mychal Kendricks or Lavonte David in the 2nd round, and I'll be ecstatic.

I actually kind of like the first part of the draft ending early today because if you have time, you can go on your favorite team's website and rewatch their draft coverage to see them speculate what player is a possibility to take. Then you can hear the coach's, gm's and recent draft player's take on the move.

Exactly. This is suppose to be an event, not a 3-day marathon.

Just to give Brown fans some hope.

If Brandon Weeden starts in week 1, he will be 28 years old.

Kurt Warner's first start was at age 28 (Once he started, he played 11 more seasons)

Steve Young's first start for the 49ers was at age 29 (Once he started for them, he played 9 more seasons. I'm being generous with the seasons played for both guys because they were both very injury prone and missed a lot of games.)

                      And Roger Staubach was 27.

And I forgot about the guys who spent years in the CFL and still managed to have enough left in the tank to have long NFL careers.

Jeff Garcia spent 5 years in the CFL and started his first game in the NFL at age 29. He had 10 seasons where he was featured as the starter.

And the Hall of Famer Warren Moon played in the CFL for 6 seasons and started his first game as an Oiler at age 28. He was a starter in the NFL for 15 seasons.

I was surprised that DeCastro fell that much, but I'm very happy with the pick. Colbert even mentioned that if he knew that DeCastro wasn't going to be available after #19, he would have traded up

How in the world did we get Melvin Ingram?

                              I is happy.

                                Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.

I was at work, but followed the draft on ESPN.com. When I saw that guys like DeCastro, Ingram and Coples were falling, I was pumped. The guy I wanted was DeCastro, despite Seattle's obvious need for a pass rusher. I just think the guy will be a monster in the NFL.

Then I saw Bruce Irvin's name.

I was immediately livid, as were my buddies, but I've cooled a bit. The guy has character concerns, but he is arguably the best pure pass rusher in the draft. He will present some nightmares for opposing QB's. He's not a three-down guy and that's what makes me skeptical, but if he can come out and get 10 sacks as a rookie, all will be well. No one can doubt the guy's natural ability and physical attributes. No more double teaming Red Bryant with Irvin coming off of the edge. We have a good, young defense that's one glaring need was a consistent pass rush and Irvin might fix that.

It should be noted that a league source confirmed that seven NFL teams had Irvin in their top 15. So obviously Carroll and Schneider saw something that they really liked. Watching video on him, the dude is a beast at getting to the QB. Hopefully he can develop as a player and be more than a passing downs guy.

Stupid to judge a pick before the kid steps onto the field so I'm not going to get too excited or down about the pick. I'll just say that if it doesn't work out, Carroll will be in deep **** with Seattle fans.
