Yeah but he doesnt exactly adress a need for us right now? There were better options in my opinion. Running back, especially a small one, won't be able to run with the O line we are sporting right now. Our oline was old and embarrassing last season in both pass and run blocking. Bradshaw or rather lack of running back skill was not the problem. They had to do too much on their own, and if the o line stays the same, Wilson will be breaking his feet running too hard the same way Bradshaw has done the past 2 years.

That said, I don't hate the pick. I just didn't see that coming at all and apparently alot of people love the pick.

And this has nothing to do with Brandon Jacobs? Idk why you're both mentioning that talking trash can right now.

It's not a given at all for QB's to be successful when they're in there mid 30's. Look around the league. Only a handful of QB's can do that. You're ok w/ your team saying we're going to push to be successful for 6 years? I'm sorry, even if it's rare, I'd rather my team go the Pats, Colts, Ravens, Steelers (for the most part), route and say, we're going to keep the door successfully revolving.
Pretty sure he meant more along the lines of RB shelf life tends to be 6-8 years at a high level, some backs can give you more than that but some break down early, with Richardson's physicality that could easily happen.

As far as the bolded part you have to get the door revolving before you keep it revolving, these picks are a step in doing just that.

Weeden's age is irrelevant, if he busts it doesn't matter if hes 22 or 29, if he succeeds and we only get 6-8 years from him well guess what that will have been the longest tenured QB we have had since our return to the NFL in 1999 so I'll gladly take it.

I'm going to stop with the Bruce Irvin thing. He'll be a good player for Seattle, but this was my reaction when they took him:

He is a need... because Jacobs is gone (which is why I mentioned him). Bradshaw is not an every down back. They need someone else to split carries with him and Wilson is a beast. I'm not a huge fan of taking RBs in the first round unless they're unworldly like Richardson is supposed to be, or you REALLY need one which the Giants didn't. So I understand your hesitation there, but no matter his size he'll be a good contributor from day one.

The Browns are in a great position to get another a starter here early in the second. I really think they need to go either offensive line or wide receiver. Maybe the surprise us and go with the best player on their board who may be at another position.

There are a couple of nice options for finding a right tackle. Starting in round 2 Bobby Massie, Cordy Glenn, Jonathan Martin, and Mike Adams are there. I would be fine with either one of those guys at 37 but would prefer Massie. If Rueben Randle or Stephen Hill are still there at 37 then either one of the 2 would be a great pick in the second round.

Still not sure if he was a need just because of Jacobs. We have some legs in the stables that could have stepped up...minus DJ Ware. Bradshaw came off of a 1,200 yard season, Jacobs an 800 when our oline was playing tough in 2010. He and Jacobs had a down year because of the offensive line being manhandled all season, and general lack of chemistry.

But the more I think of the pick the more I like Wilson, I guess I wish we could have taken him later. If he can play like a Lesean McCoy, who many are comparing him to, then hot damn! He will be a good addition to making our offense more explosive in the long run.

In other news, the Giants acquired K. Rivers to move M. Kiwanuka back to DE, signed Kiwi to an extension making Osi expendable. I expect some sort of Osi trade today.

The worst part of this time of year are all the Saints fans who think every LSU player in the draft will be a pro bowl player and have to be drafted by the Saints.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I definitely understand. I felt the same way when I was talking to LBz about the Ravens taking Hill. I like Hill alot but didn't want them to take him at 29. Whatever area of need the could've filled in that spot will hopefully be taken care of elsewhere, but they got Wilson and he will be a beast. Just hopefully not at the cost of some other area.

I wouldn't really want the Saints to draft any LSU players this year. Maybe Ron Brooks if he's there later on in the draft for depth at CB.
