And I think pretty much everyone can say, without so and so megastar, we would be up a creek without a paddle.
I'll say, what would the Packers be without Rodgers. Greg Jennings goes down, James Jones steps up. Jordy Nelson goes down, Randall Cobb steps up. Cedric Benson is out for the year, Alex Green, James Starks step up. James Starks is out, in comes Ryan Grant and Harris, a practice squad player. Out goes Bryan Bulaga for the year, in comes Evan-Dietrich Smith. Out goes TJ Lang, hello Don Barclay, a practice squad player.
Teams have mostly been playing a deep Cover 2 on the Pack this year, so, the WR's don't beat them deep like last year. So, the Packers develop a running game and throw more underneath passes. Rodgers has had to run around for his life back there with the make shift OL and is a dual threat with his feet or arm.
So, Rodgers doesn't have the numbers he did last year, but as he said, he's had the numbers in the past and the bottom line, is just win.
I'm well aware Manning and Brady are having better stats than Rodgers, and therefore should be in consideration. AD is having a great season too coming off that surgery and should be in the conversation.
Also, I don't agree with the system is greater than the QB analogy. The Packers have Graham Harrell as a backup QB. He came in against the Saints on the GL and immediately fumbled the hand off exchange. Harrell is rated the worse backup in the league and has looked terrible in preseason.
You still need a OL to block for you, you still need the WR's to make catches(ask Jermichael Finley and James Jones of the past) and the QB still needs to make the throws.
