You may want to check out that new Draft Day movie, it might give you a better understanding of how the draft works from a team's perspective.

        Don't encourage that movie.

Each team would submit a top 3 of: Clowney, Watkins, Robinson

There would be like 10 guys named so after pick 10 it would be a waste.

And he's talking about doing that for every pick they have in the draft, not just the first round.

I guess forgetting that trades happen on a regular basis for starters so no teams even know for sure what picks they are going to have.

I've heard plenty of bad ideas, but man that's near the top of the list for sure.

                The draft is watchable.

What hurts it is the long clock for the first round and the over analysis by guys like Kiper, Mayock and Gruden. Also, cameras in the green room giving away who is being picked before it's announced.

Goodell needs to start trolling the crowd like David Stern did in the NBA.

Have current players instead of old timers who no one has heard of announce the team's pick.

                Completely cut out commercial breaks.

Have viewing voting/polling for who they think should be picked.

Show more of the war rooms without giving away strategy.

                  .
I've heard of most of the players who make the picks

I do like most of your ideas though. The giving away of picks by showing the green room turns the draft into a pretty anti-climactic show. The only time it has worked was when highly touted guys slid horribly and you're left watching them looking very uncomfortable and wanting to leave.

I think the team with the #1 pick should host the NFL Draft.

And if a team has the #1 pick two years in a row, let the #2 team have it.

How awesome would it be for Houston to host the NFL Draft? That'd be SWEET.

If they traded then the regular system would be used.

Wasn't the possiblity of moving the draft around discussed last year?

I've never understood the "spoiling" complaints. What difference does it make if you find out a guy is drafted a minute or two before the pick is announced? If it's a surprise pick, then you would be surprised regardless.

Plus, didn't they stop showing the green room right before picks last year, or the year before, to try and stop that?

Now it's just all the "I need to be first!" people on Twitter who 'spoil' everything.

For me, it hurts the television presentation of the event. I feel like the first time I should know of a pick should be when Roger Goodell announces it, and it should at least appear that the broadcast team is reacting to the pick at the same time that I am. Getting it "spoiled" by TV green room cameras and whatnot before the pick is announced just hurts the unpredictable live-reaction component of the event, which is part of what makes the draft fun.

This is incredibly picky, I know.

It's not picky it's very annoying. Seeing the players celebrate and stuff before they get picked takes all the fun out. It's like that face your girl makes when you propose to her but she already found the wedding ring months in advance laying around. To prevent that issue I try to listen to the draft via satellite radio in my house then go back and watch for wacky outfits reactions etc.
