That's what most people think but all the velocity is actually generated in the top right wrist flexor. Having a wider wrist and stiff wrist flexor gives the arm something to whip around, it's like a really taut tether-ball string. Now, some quarterbacks can compensate by working on their delt-snaps, but Savage hasn't really shown that he has that he's willing to put in the work. But again, this is based on very limited film study so I could be wrong (but I doubt that I am).

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Biomechanicists are split on whether big wrists or big finger joints are the real key to football throwing velocity. I've seen it compared to a rope climbing ladder with knots tied as you go up. Those knots create leverage points off of which you can explode yourself up the rope. It's the same in throwing a football. Each joint is a mini-explosion on the football and creates the velocity that a NFL Quarterback needs to make every throw.

I think Savage is going to be a quality Quarterback in the National Football League, but I've been wrong before (only once.. and I was actually right).

We should be a week away from the draft and ending all of this nonsense, but nope. Damn you Goodell!

I watched him play against Virginia. Small sample size and whatnot, but he was just terrible. The only reason that he wasn't the worst quarterback I saw on the field in college last season is because Virginia had the worst starting quarterback in the entirety of FBS last year.
Savage's rise has confused me. Back in December/January, a lot of the prospect rankings I saw didn't even have him being drafted. But now I'm seeing him predicted to go anywhere between the 2nd and 5th round. Worst was a 2 round mock that had him going at 2.1 to Houston while Carr, McCarron, and Garappolo (I have a feeling I butchered that) were all on the board (Both Carr and McCarron ended up falling out of the 2nd round too). I just don't understand where he's getting this hype from.

Savage has the tools. He put up good numbers on not so good teams. I don't think he is a top 2 rounds QB, but after that sure because most of them never play anyways.

Hey, more positive media for Pitt . As someone who watched all of Pitt's games last year, he definitely has the arm. The problem is he can barely move, and takes too many hits. Granted the Pitt offensive line didn't give him much help last year.

Savage must have a reallllyyyy good agent because he's only got an arm, he struggles with accuracy. He's good in the 5th-6th round but if you take him in the 2nd round it's a massive reach/risk. In my eyes I can only see 2 quarterbacks taken in the 1st because of the massive need that some of the teams in the top 10 have at the quarterback position.

As the draft gets closer, I am finding myself hoping the Rams pull the trigger on Sammy Watkins, even though they have indicated they are not going receiver early. There is really no telling what they will do. Fisher has never taken an OL in the first round, so I am not so sure the conventional wisdom of an OT at #2 is gonna happen. Plus they may deal back a bit if the opportunity presents itself. Mack would make me extremely happy as well.

I'm getting caught up in the JFF hype. Please send help, because I know Cleveland cannot have nice things, and JFF is the ultimate boom or bust guy in this draft.

                            More JFF-to-the-Cowboys smoke.

From the moment the Joneses who own the Cowboys started gushing about Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, we began to pay attention to the possibility that the Cowboys would be inclined to add the potential franchise quarterback a year after giving Tony Romo a franchise quarterback contract.

I would be okay with this. And I'm a Romo guy.

Makes sense, he seems to be like Romo-Lite to me.

To be fair, I'm a Romo fan as well. I just don't think spending a first on Manziel is worth it.
