Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
This scenario will only happen if the Texans don't select Birdgewater. I can see the Texans going with Clowney at 1 and then the Browns trading up to number 2 to draft Teddy. The Rams want to move down and the Browns would like to lock in a franchise QB. If that doesn't happen I can see them getting Bortles.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
I just don't see D'anthony Thomas getting any playing time aside from KR/PR in Philly. They have McCoy, Brown, and Polk at RB. Brown is 22 and Polk is 24 so they're going to get carries as backups. Do they need another young RB in the mix...? Maybe he'd try for 4th or 5th WR but he really drops a lot of passes when lining up at WR, not sure why as he catches everything when coming out of the backfield. Maybe 3rd down back but I'm pretty sure McCoy is a 3 down back, but I don't watch the Eagles.
He could very well go to the Eagles if in the 3rd round or later. I have a feeling someone else will take a chance on him before that, though.Last edited by MattUM; 01-06-2014, 01:48 PM.Fan of:

DAT is pure speed but he's also a legit football player. He breaks tackles and makes catches in traffic. Like others have said, he needs to go to the right team.SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
Anyone remember Napoleon Kaufman? A little guy with great speed but he could also bench over 400.
He had his moments but nowhere near the same impact he had in college (few players do).
LMJ is even heavier and he's hard pressed to get a lot of touches from scrimmage, because the 49ers haven't used the read option much, though LMJ had some effective runs from it last year.
Thomas will have to find his niche. Sproles has probably put on weight since he came into the league and I've seen him even block effectively on blitz pickups. That would be tough to do for Thomas if he is only 176 pounds so he'll have to contribute in other ways while working on bulking up.
Then again, there were some doubts about DeSean Jackson having much impact from scrimmage because he was also so light.Comment

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
I don't think he actually breaks tackles, he eludes and outruns poor-tackling college players. He'll be down at first contact every single time in the NFL. He's injury-prone too. To put him in perspective, a 4" shorter Trindon Holliday weighs a pound heavier than Thomas. Every Oregon RB gets hyped up, none have worked out.Fan of:

Jets-
First Round:
-WR Mike Evans
-TE Eric Ebron
-TE Jace Amaro
In that order if the player above is already gone.
This draft is deep in WRs, so I won't be totally bummed if Evans is gone by 18.
Ebron just looks like a complete stud.Comment

Hope the Colts are able to pick up Allen Robinson or Jordan Matthews with our second. I'd also be okay if we traded up to get Verrett, as we also need to get a good young corner aside from Vontae. I'm undecided on which need should be prioritized, but WR is deeper than CB this year.Fan of:
