CEOs can't go out partying in public and acting crazy, while regular employees can as long as they aren't breaking the law. People at the top are held to different standard, so he needs to choose which one he wants to be and act like that when the cameras are on him.

Yes, he sulked. Yes, he walked off early. People can feel however they want about all that and make whatever assumptions, but let's not start making things up to force fit some larger narrative.Comment

I really thought the commissioner was the one responsible for the No Fun League attitude, but the **** some of these football fans have been hanging onto tells me the fault lies somewhere else.
Look at that man. Smiling. Whilst hoisting a football? The nerve!
My God, what ever is he doing with his hips? And in the end zone of all places. Shield your eyes Suzy and Johnny.
Is he yelling into the camera? And bragging? That thug!
How dare he walk off when people are asking mundane, pointless questions? Doesn't he know he is paid millions of dollars to do so? The arrogance of that boy!

As the game is digested and we start hearing rundowns and analysis, I really think Wade Phillips' name is gonna come up quite a bit. He he basically took Mcdaniels and Shula to school. Look at how he mixed up who was covering Olsen and what he had guys doing around that. Cam did have some drops go against him, and just flat out missed a couple open guys, but the coverage overall was dynamic once again.
Talib is a punk and a bonehead, but I, for the most part, feel the reward outweighs the risk in the long run, just a little. When he's not being a complete a-hole, he's a legit very good/sometimes truly great corner. He probably had a better year than Harris did. It just sucks that he's never gonna change his ways as far as on field ridiculousness.
Really curious to see how Elway prioritizes the free agents to be. I gotta figure (after they tag Von first thing) Brock, Malik Jackson, and Trevathan are the top targets. I could see Brock getting Nick Foles money, maybe more."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Oh right I forgot to comment about Talib. What a stupid, stupid, stupid, STUPID piece of **** that guy is. He's lucky he didn't cost them the game. I would get rid of that guy immediately. Not worth any potential disaster. Let his punk *** go back to New England or some ****.Comment

Re: Super Bowl 50: Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers Game Discussion Thread
Just getting off work now so I'm just now getting around to putting together my thoughts.
This game pretty much went as how my nightmare scenario envisioned it. I had serious concerns about our ability to block Denver's incredible pass rush and that ultimately was the difference in the game. Denver controlled that line of scrimmage. Our offensive line could not consistently give Cam time to pass and when they did his receivers struggled holding onto the ball. Cam was not comfortable at all in the pocket and it showed.
The Carolina defense was very impressive, IMO. The Broncos scored 24 points, one of which was a defensive touchdown, the other was a touchdown when they got the ball at the 5, and then one was a FG when they got the ball in the red zone off a great punt return by Norwood. This unit consistently got put in bad positions all game long and kept the team in it with a chance to take the lead late in the game. You won't hear much about how they played because of how dominant the Broncos were, but the Carolina defense really came to ball.
Denver dominated this game, but let me also take a moment here to vent about some officiating issues. The Panthers got screwed on their first drive on the Cotchery no-catch call. That was 100% a catch, and that failure to overturn put the Panthers in position for that defensive touchdown. Then, Bradley Roby gets away with an incredible amount of contact and PI on 3rd down in the red zone and it goes uncalled. Just two calls in particular that stand out for me, I'm sure some could point out some on the Denver side as well, but especially the Cotchery no-call had tremendous effects on the game. In addition, it felt like Denver got away with contact down the field on damn near every play when they showed the wide view.
Regardless, Denver earned this one. Even with some calls not going our way, we still had every opportunity to win this game and Denver snuffed just about every one of them out. The pressure they put on Cam was unrelenting, and their DB's made some great plays. If we had to lose, I'm just glad Peyton Manning got to win this one in what is likely his last game.
I really don't have a problem with Cam not talking to the media. If he had refused to congratulate the Broncos I would, but not talking to the media doesn't matter to me. He's always worn his emotions on his sleeves and this is no different. We always want athletes to be human and show emotion and he does. Could've handled it better, but he'll learn from it like he always has.
Overall, what a ride. 17-2 season and NFC Champs, this is something to build off of. The electricity in this city this year for this team was incredible. We've got a great young core of Cam/Short/Kuechly/Norman (assuming we lock both Norman/Short up this off-season), and some very good players around them. Getting Kelvin Benjamin back will only help things (we could've used him tonight). Time to get back to the drawing board and get started in 2017.

Re: Super Bowl 50: Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers Game Discussion Thread
Edited to make a clearer point:
People, fans are free to dislike someone's character or attitude, whether that character or attitude is positive or negative.
There cannot be a valid argument to be made against anyone that dislikes Cam Newton the person for how he acts.
The issue lies in those that make expectations for Cam Newton the person based on him being a professional football player.
Playing football is his job. He does it extremely well. If you think his behavior on the field is disgusting and insensitive to the game then many are going to close their ears to your screams because sanctity and honor of the game are ridiculous notions that mean one thing to one person and another to someone else. In short words, no one cares what you think.
Now if you think as a person he's a poor role model or professional, that's fine. You're allowed that opinion so long as it is justified and not something conjured up by a writer (which by the way happened quite a bit when he was drafted and many of those false scouting reports continue to live on as a narrative despite being absolutely false) or some creation in your mind whilst day dreaming.
However, Newton holds no responsibility for a fan's opinion, nor does he hold any accountability for a fan's expectations of his character. Newton is only responsible for himself and handling whatever is said about him, both positive and negative.
How much he is paid, what position he holds in an organization, if he is the face of a franchise or league, there are no rules. The only people he has to answer to are his bosses. If none of them have a problem with Cam Newton's character then he doesn't have to care about yours.
And if you think that he will care once you and millions of people stop buying his jerseys, you need a reality check. You're the minority and remember, no one cares about your opinion.Last edited by CMH; 02-08-2016, 07:29 AM."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Maybe it's just me, but I'm plenty fine with giving Cam Newton a pass with whatever he said or didn't say at his post-game presser.
The dude was nary minutes fresh off of taking a 60-minute pounding and not really playing well himself in the biggest game of his life so far. He's human, he has emotions, he was obviously and outwardly disappointed.
Credit to the Broncos for making Cam's life miserable back there, that's their job and they more than did it. That said, it would have been nice if Cam's receivers would have caught the ball (looking at you, Ted Ginn and Jericho Cotchery) or if Mike Remmers wasn't a walking turnstile against Von Miller. In many ways, Cam never really had a chance (and let's be clear, he missed some opportunities too). This game was ugly, not unlike (for me at least) most of this season.
A fitting end, I guess.Comment

Re: Super Bowl 50: Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers Game Discussion Thread
So early this morning on SC they singled out some background audio during Cams presser. They apparently had a Broncos DB doing his presser near Cam and he was talking about their defensive gameplan. I'm not excusing Cams poor professionalism, I'm just saying I think he was hearing that and that's what made him walk out.
Can't seem to find that clip with captions that they were showing on SC anywhere online. Again, I'm not excusing anything but it makes it more understandable.
The Broncos DB was asked about it after they showed him the clip on Cams presser and he said he didn't understand why they put them so close together.
Edit: it was Chris HarrisComment

Sooooo happy the Broncos won!
In the AFCCG I wanted the Patriots to win but after the Broncos won that it was a no contest who I would've preferred win the Super Bowl.
Manning couldn't have asked for a better fairy tale, and I hope he does hang up his cleats because it really is the perfect way to go out.
If he does, even if he doesn't, it's a big year for retirements...Beast Mode, Charles Woodson, probably Manning as well...

Re: Super Bowl 50: Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers Game Discussion Thread
Alright so I wanna touch on this Brady/Manning/Newton issue that I saw going on after I went to sleep last night. I have no problem with what Newton did. I have seen others do it before the closest one was Marshawn Lynch during any press conference ever. And most of you are saying Brady/Manning haven't done the same. I disagree with that. I watched Brady's presser from 2007 (the 18-1 year) and his message about the same as Cam's, but he gave some more thought out answers. But then on youtube as one of those related videos they had a press conference for a 24-20 loss in Miami, watched that one as well. And Brady acted like Cam, didn't say much, answered 1 question then left. Also let's not act like Brady is a saint either. Do we not remember him blowing up at Bill O'Brien after he threw a pick in Washington.Comment
