This is pathetic and I would LOOOOOVE to hear Blandino try to defend this travesty. I mean, in the course of one game we saw a defensive player go through the concussion protocol but the QB doesn't because he's a big name and it's a huge moment in the game? That's inexecusable for a league touting player safety.

The player that smashed cams head with his helmet needs to be suspended. Make an example out of him, it's the first game of the season and your MVP is being headhunted

That was a great game. Too many penalties but an excellent game.

Really happy to see Kelvin Benjamin have a good game and CJ Anderson going wild tonight. One coming back from injury and the other coming back from sucking last year.

Really impressed by Carolina's ball control on that drive in the 2nd quarter as well as Siemian despite the two interceptions. One was a tip but the other was inexcusable. Still not bad. Made a few dangerous passes outside of that. Hoping he can rely on his WRs a bit more but I see him throwing to Virgil Green often. Kubiak loves TEs.

Hoping Sunday brings us more. Still hate the Thursday opener.

Fun game to be at. I obviously wish Gano would've made the kick, though. Got lucky to sit with a couple of great people that made the experience very enjoyable.

I was really surprised with how well Siemian played. Only a couple of mistakes but made some nice reads under pressure and showed good escapability. The OL was better than the super bowl, but they've got to upgrade from Remmers. The dude just can't get out and handle a speed rush. Nice to see KB back in action. Hopefully Cam can recover quick. He took a beating

Which one are you referring to? The last one was a brutal shot, but it seemed to me that the guy was trying to hit him in the chest, but due to Cam getting tripped up, his head level dropped at the last second. It's still a penalty but I don't think players should be suspended for essentially trying to lay a big, legal hit and getting unlucky.

The one that I think was Brandon Marshall was pretty bad though.

Brandon Marshall should be suspended for this:

Fine schedule for first offense for spearing/launching/etc though is $24,309.

See the on-field code of conduct and related fines that the NFL and the NFLPA collectively bargain for all teams — and the players agree to honor — here.

Headhunting was lame, hopefully Phillips gives them **** for it this week.

CJ Anderson had a really good night which is surprising considering the front seven for the Panthers. The offensive line was pretty bad in preseason where defenders were in the face of the quarterback or running back before anything could develop. If the line improves, that'll be a big bonus for the team.

LOL local sports talk radio is killing me right now. I love it. Ohhhh boy. The world is funny.

Cam Newton is taking a beating out here on the airwaves but I felt like he played a fantastic game. Maybe I am wrong.

I didn't realize Booker had such a bad game. I know he fumbled his first play but I didn't know that it was his missed blitz pickup that led to the second INT. Something tells me Bibbs is the new HB2

I hope CJ stays healthy all year, I really think is due for a breakout season

He's always going to be blamed by opposing fans. I'd be surprised if the media is going after him, but after listening for the last few weeks, I guess I shouldn't be. Half the guys that talk don't seem to actually watch anyone but the Broncos and just seem to make stuff up from looking at box scores.

Re: TNF Opener: Carolina Panthers @ Denver Broncos

Overall was a great game. Refs missed calls and were all over the place. No holding on Miller which makes me believe Denver is going to get the same treatment as last year and rarely have a holding call go against opposing defenses.

On the 3 hits to Cam's head the first one was a good no call as Miller didn't hit him more of cam hit miller and since miller was standing vertical you can't call that. The second one on Marshall should have been called but it was missed but so was the hands to the face on the receiver on the 4th and 22. (the receiver had his hands on Harris' facemask also. Only 1 was called) The third one was called and was a bang bang play. Hard to avoid but deserved the flag it got.

The poor spots seemed to happen a few times in the game but that was probably the worst. Surprised why he would waste a timeout and not just throw the flag. Worst case scenario you are out a timeout which he used anyways or you keep your timeouts and use none. That was more poor coaching than anything.

As far as the play on the field Seimian looked good outside a few miscues, but overall the offense looked like they should be able to have solid year as the run game looked like it should be able to hold the fort with Trevor hitting those quick passes the offense should be able to help take off the pressure from the defense which needs to get it's act in order as they looked bad the first half.

Which brings me to the defense. Early they took poor angles and had poor tackling but I will give them credit for improving in the second half and making great halftime adjustments and held the panthers to just 3 points after halftime. Overall great game and I'm glad football season is back.

Just saw the replays of the last two hits on Cam. Damn, if that's not launching helmet first, I don't know what is. I wasn't able to see those things live, and they don't really show replays on the board at the stadium between plays.

Yeah Newton is a tough SOB. That Miller hit was okay, but the rest should've drawn flags in real time. Especially the Marshall hit. That was late and textbook.

The refs dropped the ball on that, and on the league MVP of all players too. Shocking to see it in a compilation like that. Terrible.

Can't tell me the NFL or anyone involved in the concussion process cares about player safety, the players included. You don't get hit like that, crumple, and pretend like your brain ain't rattled. Someone needs to take responsibility and get these guys out of the game.

How did Marshall even pass protocol??

I saw the replays and it's clear that:

                                - The officiating was horrid on helmet to helmet hits
                                - Cam should've been treated better by his own medical staff

Complete fail on the NFL's part all the way around. Actions speak louder than words. There was clear targeting/launching. There was a clear player in need of the protocol or at least a thorough evaluation.

It's really pathetic to see this play out.
