He is back to playing like last season after a slow start and some pretty meh performances.

Tom Brady and the Bucs definitely killed that invincibility factor the Chiefs had. They've looked rather ordinary since then.
Granted they have played a rough schedule.

Went in to KC and worked ‘em, that’s big time ball by the Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs have fallen off their pedestal, but they still carry an aura of greatness and we had to have this one to keep them down and prove to ourselves they weren’t going to be our kryptonite.
Those kids we drafted to make sure we could get after Mahomes and be able to drop a bunch in to coverage: Rousseau with a sack and an INT and a half sack for Boogie Basham. Even without Milano, this defense buttoned up. They’re great, and JA can throw to anywhere on the field in half a second with that arm. Everything is going according to plan.
Holding a lead at half for 14 straight (regular season) games as an NFL record... this team has been on fire for the last season and a half. We gotta bring it home though. We need that trophy.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

I have been saying since near end of last year; Mahomes is regressing (or more so, the league has adjusted and he hasn't). He is constantly passing up the easy check down to scramble around and try and make some hero play. Every now and then he hits it and it looks awesome, but you can't sustain drives/offense that way. Coaches and players care mostly about the kicks you make and forget the one's you missed in winning situations.

I'm not saying they are done by means. It's a long season and they have the talent to be there at the end. But they have been exposed. That invincible feeling is gone, the talks about a dynasty have died down.
KC has to figure some things out.
