    Re: Official Carolina Panthers thread

Panthers cut to 51 players Sat night. I was really hoping that LB Jeremy Leman would make the final cut, he played very well and with a lot of energy in pre-season.

Here is our projected depth chart (we still have to fill two roster spots through waivers)

W/Pepp wanting to go to NE, & in need of a DT, why didn't the 2 teams just make a switch?

Carolina claimed 2 players off waivers to get to a 53 man roster.

"A day after cutting 23 players and placing one on injured reserve, the Carolina Panthers continued to refine their roster by claiming rookie defensive tackle Ra'Shon Harris and rookie running back Tyrell Sutton off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers, respectively. The moves increase the Panthers' roster to the NFL limit of 53 players."

Why do they need another RB? They already have the best RB duo, got a great looking rookie in Goodson, so they pick up a 4th back? How about another safety or wideout?

Yeah I really wanted another Safety, but my understanding is that rookie CB Sherrod Martin worked at safety in camp and can play there if needed. The 4th RB thing, I don't get it either.

I'm starting to get excited for the season I just can't get into pre-season football.. I see big things from Williams this year, he should contend for the rushing title I think. Our D is a big issue IMO. Hopefully it was just pre-season and not really caring but we'll see. I am excited about Everette Brown hopefully he get some playing time.

The Carolina Panthers have signed unrestircted free-agent C Dustin Fry (Browns) and CB Marcus Walker (Vikings) to their practice squad.

Unrestricted free-agent WR Mark Jones (hamstring) said there was a hamstring injury found during his physical with the Carolina Panthers and will not be ready to play for another week.

Why the heck are we so hell bent on resigning him? I like Munnerlyn and Goodson as PR/KR. Technically Jones is a WR, but not functionally. Who will we cut to make room for him?

                  J. Leman should've been kept - he was the only one showing intensity on D from the gameplay I saw.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I agree 1000%. I cannot believe they didn't even put him on the practice squad!

We are trying to get him because we need a DEPENDABLE return man. All of our return men have fumbled at least once, which is not a good sign. Mark Jones was a big key to our sucess last year, which is why he had one of the best averages on returns. He would probably be our 5th wr, seeing that we only have 4 on the roster.

That was a terrible game by Jake, but it was just one game. Let's see how things play out. I think this team has a lot of talent, but we'll see if they capitalize on it.
