Yep, I heard that same interview too.

Regardless of how many times they rushed on 1st down, they played to win that game in comparison to the Chief game.

Ugh....I have a horrible feeling about tonight.

Win or lose, I am happy with how this season played out. It's been one of the most entertaining in Broncos history.

I thought it was interesting to hear that the Patriots did not beat a team with a winning record this year (they lost to the Giants and Steelers - the only teams they faced who did have a winning record at the end of the year).

I didn't give them much of a chance against Pittsburgh and they proved me wrong. Maybe you just have to "Believe".

What a way to go out. We better never see this option junk again. I believe my opinion on the matter is well-documented. W leaned heavily on it, and now we reap the "benefits," just as I said we would.

Successful season, but I think we have a lot of work to do. Especially in the passing game.

OK well, the Broncos fans can now start talking about the 2012 NFL Draft. Now is a good a time as any, I guess.

I am not happy that they got rolled, but it didn't bother me as much as usual. Denver just isn't equipped to run with a team like the Patriots. Nothing that happened last night was a surprise to me, except that the offensive line had a horrible night.

If at the beginning of the season it was said that Denver would win their division and win once playoff game, every Broncos fan would have taken that and run with it. The simple fact is that they are ahead of schedule in regards to putting this team back together. They are a young team and hopefully the experience they gained will help them in the future.

The highs and lows with Tebow are extreme. It seems everyone is quick to jump on when things look good, but are just as quick to bail when things go sour. Yes, he needs work. I'm anxious to see what he looks like after a legitimate offseason. I think we will see a more refined QB. As long as he is Denver's guy, the option isn't going away any time soon. It's what Tebow does. He just needs to improve on his passing and the option will become much more effective.

It will be nice to have an offseason of construction instead of destruction.

                  Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

Well, after a little while to think on last night's game, here are my thoughts:

                  - Still disappointed in the game plan. You weren't going to beat New England running the option and yet it seemed like we ran it more than we did against Pittsburgh.

                  - The defense was atrocious, but I can't blame them entirely. There were so many injuries coming in and during the game that it was like a mash unit out there. The offense didn't help by keeping NE's offense on the field either.

                  - Tebow did not play well, but I don't think he played awful either. A hybrid Elway/Montana/Brady wouldn't have stood a chance the way the line blocked last night (there were a few plays where the defense got to Tebow before the snap did!). I am really excited to see how Tebow progresses in the offseason. It will be VERY telling in the first pre-season game next year. He must come out and be making his reads, finding open men, and throwing from the pocket. If he can't do those things by August, I don't think you can predict sustained success.

                  - I actually liked that Miller started that scrum. Pooch punting with Brady on 3rd down? Talk about spitting in your eye...I wouldn't take it lightly either and I'm glad he didn't. Dude is as much a winner as Tebow imo.

All in all, great year and I am already looking forward to next year.

Agreed about Fox thinking that he could run the option on Belichek and be successful. Very frustrating game to watch as I was pulling for the Broncos. They made the Pats D look unstoppable.

Great season guys, cant wait to see what Tebow can do after a full offseason with the team.

Well, let me clarify on that though. I don't know if John Fox thought it stood a chance, but I think John Fox believed it was his best plan given what he had. I doubt John Fox said "THIS is the game plan that will beat the Patriots." It was more like "well... here's what I have to work this, so let's try our best."

Coach Fox did what he could given the tools at his disposal. He made the best of the situation. That won't work next year, and I think he knows that. Now that he'll have a full off-season with the team, he can really put his fingerprints on it.

One of two things will happen next year:

                        1) Tebow doesn't progress enough and still needs the read-option to be useful. Teams have the counter plan to that, the Broncos lose games early, and Tebow is benched.

                        2) Tebow made enough strides in the off-season to run a pro-style offense. Whether it's enough to be effective and we see continual growth remains to be seen.

There's no way the read-option works next year. The Jets, Bears, Chiefs, and Patriots all showed how to defeat it. The rest of the league will follow suit. Next year, the Broncos MUST find out if Tebow can run a conventional offense. They must have an answer by the end of the season, because if Tebow isn't the answer, they have to move on.

                          Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

I think the read option can work in limited doses. The main reason Denver lead the league in rushing was based purely on the fact that defenses had potentially 3 reads prior to reacting (hand-off, qb run, and qb pass). However, I felt as though they limited their read option offense to a few select plays.

I'm sure we'll know a lot more after the off-season, but it comes down to Tebow being able to become a better passer. To tone back the read option plays, Tebow needs to be able to make the throws for defenses to respect his arm.

Despite Tebow not seeing the field as well as he should and hitting the open guy, I still place some of that on the play calling from the coaches, the lack of separation WR typically get from DB's and dropped passes.

I think all of that is true but I think the play calling was correctly limited for a reason. That goes back to your first point, Tebow needs to become a better passer. That will let them open the playbook more while still incorporating some of the things they've been doing.

I agree, but their playcalling was also highly predictable and unimaginative. There is so much that they could do to expand off of the read option, but they didn't. That's why I would like to see a change from McCoy. It's hard to be successful when you are running four wides with three of them running go-routes and the other a curl. Denver had the most success when they mixed things up and kept the defense guessing.
