    McGahee is gone.

If you don't have the commitment to show up to 'voluntary' OTA's, especially when the team drafted somebody to replace you, good riddance.

I just saw the headline on espn.com. My first reaction was laughter, very audible laughter (AKA I lol'd).

Happiest guy at Dove Valley? Knowshon Moreno!

Honestly, though, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Montee Ball can do. All the vets are speaking highly of him. And for the Broncos to release McGahee this early says that they like what he's bringing.

Yep. Sounds like Ball is mature beyond his years and he looks very polished. I love how he's working so closely with Manning. Says a lot.

I can't wait to see what he can do in this offense. If the Broncos can put teams into a 'pick your poison' position, (similar to Elway and Davis), it's going to be huge.

McGahee is an old one dimensional halfback that is coming off a bad injury.I must say we got more out of him than I would've thought. That isn't to say Knowshon isn't soon to follow.Ball and Hillman will pretty much get the carries and the #3 will be there for insurance.I'm not sure you carry a guy that's not so young anymore and had two knee surgeries.

The sad part about both McGahee and Moreno is the "what if?" factor. McGahee has had a good career as a running back, no doubt. But the injuries have held him back. Coming into the NFL while recovering from a blown knee had to affect his explosiveness in some way.

Moreno is the same. He could've been a very solid running back had he not been so snake-bitten. He's still a solid 3rd down back. He's dangerous in the flats and in open space, and he knows how to block. That last tidbit is extremely important, and it's likely THE reason he's still on the roster. Finding a running back who can block on 3rd down isn't always easy.

So long as Moreno doesn't have to carry the load, I think he'll stay healthy and will stick around. He's formed a nice little nitch that will keep him on the team.

I agree about the versatility.I'm not sure what he's counting against the cap though.I don't know if he would see the field if Ball and Hillman stay healthy.

Lance Ball isn't anything terrific and has been around for awhile but does play special teams and has some versatility too.

I would be more comfortable with Knowshon if Montee Ball was injured for a period of time though.

Yeah, Lance Ball is just an average running back. He can do a bit of this, a bit of that. Not so big, not so small. Doesn't have amazing speed or power, doesn't have great agility. He'll get you 2.8 - 3.0 yards so long as he isn't asked to carry the load. Basically, a spell running back who can play special teams (because losing him to injury isn't really a big deal). His problem is he can't pass block, so that takes him out of third down. Hillman struggled on passing downs as well. That's the real shame, because you want a guy like Hillman catching the ball out of the backfield and ripping off 15+ yards.

Camp opens a month from today!

I am really looking forward to getting a good look at Osweiler in the preseason, just to get a feel for whether or not he is capable of taking over once Manning steps down.

Agreed because regardless of the relationship between Elway and Osweiler if he doesn't show he is progressing this year, it could very possibly mean he won't be Manning successor

Yeah, I hope Elway doesn't feel like he's tied to him and try to 'make' him succeed because he's his guy. I really don't get that sense about Elway, though. I really like what he has done to turn this franchise around, and I don't think he's afraid to make whatever move he deems as necessary to make this team better.

If Os doesn't look like he is going to pan out, just move on. However, I do have high hopes for him. Big guy with a strong arm. He'll be fun to watch this summer. It would be comforting to know that we have somebody capable of becoming the next franchise QB waiting in the wings.

Every year, Elway seems to be scouting QBs. He understands the importance of getting the position right. he's going to find the right QB for our team. He got rid of Tim Tebow, so Elway certainly wouldn't be afraid of ditching Osweiler if he needed to. XD

He has a lot more connection with Osweiler than he did with Tebow.

Don't get me wrong I trust Elway.

Lance Ball is a good blocker and good special teams player but I wanted to scream whenever he was given the ball while the game was in the line. He is not the kind of player we need holding the rock on 3rd and 2 in the 4th quarter.

I'm sure we all listen to The Fan out here. I gotta admit I get a little anxious sometimes. Then things I'm hearing about how "best OTAs I've ever seen," and the casual/somewhat snide Super Bowl comments from guys like DMac just bring me back to that playoff game. Lets talk about the Broncos being 10-0 IF they actually go 10-0, talking about it now just piles on that same bad sports karma as before.

Definitely a lot to be excited about. I'm partial to Ronnie Hillman I hope he ends up being somewhat of a valuable role player. I think that Lou Vasquez signing will pay off big time, and don't fall asleep on Shaun Phillips, he can still play.

Last season, during the first 4-5 games, especially in Atlanta, I was shocked by how often they dropped Miller into coverage. Del Rio changed it up at that point and, ironically, it wasn't until the playoff game that we didn't see Miller almost always coming off the edge in passing downs. Go figure. I get the guy can make plays everywhere, but I truly feel on every single passing situation that guy needs to be in the pocket disrupting the QB.

Ball is actually a rather mediocre pass blocker. It's why the Broncos went with Moreno instead. They didn't trust Ball to block.

With regard to Von Miller: dropping him in coverage was done as a means to keep the offense guessing. If the offense begins to key on Miller, and you supposedly have this other "sack master" in Elvis Dumervil, you should be able to mess up the blocking scheme by feigning a Miller blitz and dropping him in coverage. If the offensive line thinks he's coming, and suddenly the blitz comes from elswhere, that should disrupt things. Problem was, Dumervil wasn't what he was supposed to be. Hence why the Broncos wanted him to take a pay cut.

I actually don't listen to The Fan at all. I find their guys rather annoying. I usually listen to ESPN Radio. So, I can't really follow you with regard to what's said on The Fan.
