Most smart franchises were moving down to get 2010 picks because as it's been said, the draft talent was not great.Aaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
In the eyes of Denver's new management, a 2007 first-round draft pick is now worth far, far less.
A source told FOXSports.com on Sunday that Broncos defensive end Jarvis Moss is being shopped for a seventh-round selection in this year's draft.
The 17th overall pick in his draft class, Moss has proven one of the biggest draft busts of the Mike Shanahan era. Injuries and on-field struggles have limited Moss to playing in just 18 games the past two seasons with one start.
The new Broncos regime of coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Brian Xanders is ready to cut ties with Moss after the franchise chose Tennessee pass-rusher Robert Ayers in the first round of Saturday's draft.Aaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
You can smack me if you want, but after further analyzing the draft, I'm not feeling as badly about it. Also looking at the current roster of the front seven, I can kind of see why they passed over those positions. Not saying that they are set, but not as bad as I thought. They got some studs though. Guys that can give immediate help.
Ironically AV, a while back, safety was the top position of need in your opinion, remember? They got a couple of good ones.
We shall see.Comment

McDaniels talking about Alphonso Smith getting interceptions was dumb, we could get interceptions but we need that thing called pressure, which doesnt exist on defense for the Denver Broncos- doesnt matter if you sit 9 guys up front, we cant get past the line. I'm not really thrilled about the makeshift line we have on defense, I dont think they'll get the job done but that's just me.
Trading back up into the 2nd round for a TE was a bit odd when most projected him to be a 5th to undrafted.. not sure what we gave up for him. Giving up the 1st round pick (ours) stinks of trying to save money since, lets be honest, Bears have the better odds of having the better record between us and them- top 10 pick for Broncos?
Oh and Orakpo, who could be a real threat in the pressure game, we passed on when he was supposedly up there on the draft chart. You pass up on a guy that could help out a drowning defense for a RB when we actually have depth in that position AND you can find RB's anywhere in the draft- Moreno better be the next Davis or LT.
As you can tell, I'm not thrilled about this draft hahaLast edited by av7; 04-27-2009, 09:22 PM.Aaron

I was frustrated while watching the draft, but I do like the talent they got even though it didn't match our needs.
I will go out on a limb and assume that McDaniels and co. know more about the players talent than me. If the talent wasn't there for the front 7 and they drafted the best talent at their picks, I am okay with that.
I personally think in terms of talent, I loved the draft. I like the Moreno pick (even though I threw a few items when they picked him).
Obviously the picks for the DB's will hang around for a few years until anyone can form an opinion on these picks.
Most draft day mocks had them taking Ayers with the 12th pick so IMO it worked out.
But again, I will reserve my thoughts until after the off season and we see some of these guys in action.
Hopefully it works out.Comment

That is the approach I am taking right now, giving the benefit of the doubt. We shall see is the only thing we can do.
The TE pickup was beyond odd for me. Maybe a sign of things to come for Cutler's boy.
I really like the Moreno pick, but seeing as how the shelf life of a rb is 4 years, I guess you look at that pick as a gravy pick.Comment
