Ya just had to be someone to put in the pick, that was the only difference really. I'll post in the mock thread that we're interested

Here's some of the trial stuff

It's fairly long so I wont quote it all. This part is about Marshall and his cousin

2:15 PM A friend of Bronco Darrent Williams testified this afternoon that the cousin of Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall was one of two aggressors in a verbal confrontation that escalated into shots being fired and Williams death.

John Sheppard said he was visiting Williams from Fort Worth, Tex. on New Year's Eve, and was with Williams at The Shelter nightclub's "Safari Night."

Sheppard, the prosecution's first witness, testified about what happened in the third-level VIP area of the nightclub, where Williams and his friends were celebrating. That group included current Bronco Brandon Marshall, and Marshall's cousin, Blair Clark.

Sheppard said that Blair Clark shook and sprayed a bottle of champagne over the crowd at midnight, which started a confrontation between Clark and another man, whom Sheppard did not name.

"He was like, 'What's up with this (stuff) man," Sheppard said.

Sheppard said Williams tried to diffuse the situation.

"Darrent approached him and said it was nothing like that, we was just partying," Sheppard said.

As a verbal confrontation escalated and spilled outside, Williams was trying to get the Broncos, including Javon Walker, into a limousine.

"Darrent hops in the limo and then looks out the back window and sees his teammates out there. He doesn't want to just leave them out there like that," Sheppard said. "He was trying to break them up - 'You all are tripping, lets go home.' They still won't quit arguing. He was like, 'Forget it, whoever is riding with me, we're leaving."

      Oh and to add-
Lamont Jordan and Wiegmann were cut

Marshall was at the courthouse today to testify about the night with Williams.

        2:00

Brandon Marshall began his testimony Friday afternoon by telling jurors that he thinks about what happened on New Years Eve 2006 "every night."

The Broncos receiver, called to the witness stand at approximately 1:50 p.m., was questioned about everything he remembers from the night that teammate Darrent Williams was murdered, starting with when he and a group of friends left Marshall's home for a party near downtown Denver.
        2:50

Marshall testifies that he and his friends, including Dumervil, left in a hired Lincoln Towncar. A short time later they drove past the white Hummer limousine. Marshall said he saw police cars near the Hummer, but his group decided not to stop, not knowing there had been a shooting.

Marshall said a teammate called a short time later to tell Marshall that Williams had been shot. Marshall, who was home, then drove to the hospital, where other people from the Broncos - players and coaches - were already gathering.

Marshall began to cry on the stand as he recalled the scene at the hospital. Marshall said teammate Javon Walker - who was in the Hummer with Williams - was fixated on holding Williams' large medallion necklace, which Walker said Williams had asked him to hold.
Maybe getting him out of Denver would be best for his mental health at this point. Hopefully he's seeked out some help or friends to talk to about whatever since the murder happened.

Mentioned it in the FA thread that Justin Brannan singed up with the Broncos.

Do we play him at nose or end? Wharton what do you think since you've seen him plenty with the Ravens games

The scenarios for the Broncos draft changes so much if Marshall goes elsewhere, imo.

I fully expect Marshall to be a Seahawk by the end of today.

McDaniels will likely use that second first round pick on a WR. Not the worst of all scenerio's but drafting a WR in the first round is always hit or miss.

I would be shocked if they matched Seahawk's offer, especially when the 6th overall is involved. Gets Marshall out of Denver and out of the AFC.

Maybe McDaniels will trade the 2nd 1st round pick for a nickelback corner?

-How much money goes into a 6th overall now? I could see the team trading it to get more picks starting in the low 1st/2nd round.. if theres someone really wanting the 6th

Schefter says a deal shouldn't be expected today between Marshall and the Seahawks.

Marques Murrell (LB 6'2 250) is coming in today

Nathan Jones (CB) signed a 4 year deal for up to $13.6 mil. Expected to do the job Alphonso Smith has yet to do

Bannan's a good pick up. He'll play nose tackle. He didn't get much press in Baltimore bc he was splitting time with Ngata and Gregg (not much room for time there) but he played a lot last year and looked pretty good.

Good thing that has some closure. Interesting and sad part:

Defense attorney Abraham Hutt said Clark wasn't even in the SUV during the shooting.

"This is what this is about: Willie Clark is a scapegoat," Hutt told jurors.
It's possible that as a gang member, he is a scapegoat. But if he is, he's completely fine with it, so for the DA to bring it up is almost making a mockery of the system. Either he did it or someone in his gang above him did it and he's willingly covering for them.

Good to see that. I hope this allows whoever is still haunted by it a little piece of closure...

Andra Davis was curiously released today. I forsee an ILB as the top pick in the draft...

                              Edit:

Just found this from Woody Page's mailbag and wanted to add it:

By the way, I sat all day in the courtroom of the Darrent Williams murder trial, and the comments in the closing arguments by the defense attorney were certainly more brutal than anything sports writers ever said. And tape from the night of the murder, taken by a camera at the club, showed rather conclusively that Marshall didn't tell the truth about one important issue and try to make himself an innocent bystander when he was anything but.
