Really been disappointed in the game so far... gameplay is much smoother but the realism is still bad. I am playing as the Predators (playing every game on superstar, hardcore) and Pekka Rinne is just awful. Can't seem to stop anything. I am currently 1-1-1 but the goal totals are too high. My previous Be a GM mode was also with the Preds. I started 4-0-0 but lost 8 in a row and couldn't bounce back. I have no problem losing games but would like to see better goalie play. Anyone else having this problem? I don't know if my defense is just that bad. Any tips on defense? Lots of goals being scored in the slot, I've taken away most of the one-timers but most of the goals now are just easy wrist shots finding their way in. Pretty frustrating that I can't get his save percentage anywhere close to 90.

Sadly this is the reason I'm playing on Pro. I just don't have faith in my teammate AI to take away the pass. Putting collapse, and protect the net and passive box on for each game has helped.

Given how well your continent has taken to soccer, I felt it appropriate to try and appreciate some of my colonial cousins sporting endeavours.

I jest, I have loved a hockey and the NHL series for a while, here is me starting out with the Carolina Hurricanes, I will progressively post episodes that are up already over here, but there is a playlist with my first 5 videos (2 full games) on my channel already.

Any feedback would be amazing as this is my first foray into sports mode commentaries, indeed, commentaries as a whole.

Started a new GM mode and switched from Superstar to All Star. Rinne looked much better, gave up 2 goals on 18 shots in the first game. I won 5-2 against Ottawa, so hopefully it isn't too easy now. AI still capitalizes on your mistakes but doesn't make brilliant plays out of nothing.

All star is most definitely too easy. Looks like I will have to find a slider setting that reduces the scoring. Anyone seen or found anything that works well?

Switched back to Superstar and adjusted sliders pretty heavily (Al Tito's). Gameplay is much better, scoring is down. Unfortunately I think it's been made to easy now but we will have to see. I've started the season 3-0-0 and Rinne has two shutouts.

I started with my Dallas Stars. I haven't played a hockey game in a few years and for some reason, started playing on All Star. I started 1-2 and the losses were blowouts. I've bumped it down to Pro, but haven't played another game yet. I'm hoping to dive in again tonight after work.

Kicked off my BeaGM tonight with the Blues and the 9/3 roster. One thing you have to do is set your sliders and then go back and change it from "custom" to "hardcore" I noticed if I set it to "hardcore" and then made a few changes it would go back to "custom" and some hardcore settings such as game speed were back to the simulation settings. When I changed it back to "hardcore" it kept my settings but also moved the default hardcore settings back to where they should be.

First game at home vs the Rangers.. lovely. They started backup goalie Cam Talbot and stopped all 31 shots, my best chance was a breakaway with Oshie and he got a right pad out to stop what I thought was a sure goal.

Let me say this.. I've played more NHL 13 and NHL 14 games than I can count and to each his own, but NHL 15 next gen on the ice is the BEST representation of the sport that I've ever played. I'm just talking about the game play package. There were only two penalties, but the game play was just fantastic and even though the CPU AI teammates lack at times, especially on defense, it just felt like a real hockey game to me. We both had 31 shots on goal and I don't think the hit tracker is accurate for the CPU team because I know they laid me on my butt way more than 10 times.

It was a real sloppy game at times and then there were stretches where the tops lines were skating around and working flawlessly together. It was 0-0 after the first period and NY would get two by Carl Hegelin, one was a slapper from the point and the other a deflected shot over Elliott's glove. Rick Nash would add a slapper and we could never crack Talbot's armor even though we had our chances.

I saw things I've never seen before, the puck stopping on a clear out at the other end due to the ice surface deteriorating late in the period, a slapper on a bouncing puck that went way up into the crowd, the referee getting caught up in a play which caused the puck to bounce oddly and turn over to the other team, players taking each other out causing some really neat scrambles for the puck, etc.. etc..

Hopefully they enhance the game, especially all the missing modes and I really want BeaGM to get the updates promised, but the on the ice game play is fantastic IMHO.

Next up is Calgary... hopefully we can get on the board with some goals.

Sad that it plays that well and then starts Cam Talbot in net in GM mode against you. Kind of sucks the life out of any positives. I mean if the CPU won't start the starting goalie like many people have experienced then it really isn't even fun to me to play a franchise that is already so bare to begin with.
