Why does maxing out the Attribute Effects slider make the game so sluggish? I've increased the game speed to 4 and it still feels like players are stuck in the mud. Player speed & accel is set to 50 as usual.

Re: Attribute Effects
Wow. Thanks a lot. That had a lot to do with it. My fatigue effect was at 60 & recovery was at 43. As a test, I set the effect to 40 and lowered the game speed back to 3. Skating felt way better. I always noticed when I win a faceoff at center ice, it took forever for my controlled player to turn and the cpu would be on me so quick. Too bad fatigue effect doesn't effect the cpu like it should. I have to do more tweaking but thanks again.Comment

Re: Attribute Effects
I guess I had the placebo effect because I thought this fixed the sluggish skating but it really didnt. I dont if its my controller or the game. It just takes forever for my skaters to go. The cpu is not effected though.Comment

Re: Attribute Effects
I started dabbling with another major slider tweak - Game Speed.
Played 2 games so far on Max 6/6 speed because I was tired of the "sluggish" play and both games were fantastic! Many more loose pucks, goalies seem much better (this setting affects all players on the ice), hits seem more realistic, etc..
Check my slider thread for a couple pics of goalie saves I don't remember seeing before (I'm sure I have at some point). Not one goal so far out of a total of 12 were unrealistic.
Small sample size for sure.. but for now, I'm back to enjoying NHL 18.Comment

Re: Attribute Effects
I’m looking forward to seeing what effects attribute effect slider has on the new RPM skating system in NHL 19. Skating already feels more fluid in the beta and I feel if that slider was maxed it could create even more of a difference between each player.Comment

I have been on 6 and having really good results in my franchise. The games are close, the stats are close and it is fun.
Now, having said that. I just played 19 1v1 and a 6v6 and loved the skating. As I like to do, is try to replicate the new thing in the old game. I am on 18 now, and my skating sliders feel pretty close to 19's skating. WHich is a good thing. Not baggin on 19 at all.
I put player acceleration to 100, cpu to 85.
Skating speed 60, cpu to 58 (this may be too fast but I love it!)
skating agility to 100, cpu to 85.
Man, I can turn, pick up pucks, cover dudes in the slot, take away entry to the offensive zone. Great find with game speed at 6. Give these others a try. I wouldn't think the rest of the sliders would matter which is why I posted here. Great stuff.
(I also did a few things with goalies per usual, love breaking them down. I didn't do attribute this time. I put their cross crease at 100 for both user/ai. Their reaction time to 40, deflection time to 20, screen effect to 90, screen persistance to 25. Seeing a lot of things I haven't seen before, well, that I saw in 14 when I did those goalie attributes).Last edited by shogunofharlem3; 07-30-2018, 05:33 PM.Comment

Re: Attribute Effects
Since this post I have been playing on game speed 6. I have always been a fast hockey guy, the old 2k days I was way way up there in skating speed but I fell off with the EA sim at 3 or whatever it is and never really tested it.

I always start over with a new version and with 19 and the new skating, I figured speed might have to go back to 3/6. As usual, it typically takes a few months of tweaking to get it close to a decent game.Comment

Re: Attribute Effects
I'll check those out! The one thing I absolutely hate with goalies and wish they would fix is when they go into the butterfly before you even shoot the puck. So many goals come from the goalie going into the butterfly early and the puck going by them to the open side. They are almost robotic to the rest of the game.

They really do move quite realistically, no warping. Also I am cycling, working the puck around, the only thing is the ai is a little too quick to get on you, that may by my skill level but boy do they swarm. I am going to lower their acceleration by a tick or 2. Although, the shots, time of possession, etc have been even. So I will leave it for another few games.
Let me know your thoughts on the agility and acceleration bumpComment

Re: Attribute Effects
I just played 3 18 games with my skating adjustments above and loved it. The goalies react and sometimes they can't they just have to block. I will say I have shooting accuracy around 35 for both user/ai slapshot wristshot.

Re: Attribute Effects
Agreed. I created a new slider set to test but I still have my regular stand by with 6 speed. But with everything maxed, I will tinker and work my way down but it has been good. We'll see how it is tomorrow.Comment
