I did not know Kipper was going to be in the game but he has not officially annouced his retirement to the Flames he only annouced it in Finland. So it's safe to say he will be in the game when it launches and be in it. It's not like they took out Holmstrom when he retired before the regular season started last year.

So 5 new faces?
I wont buy this game until it at least doubles its number of real cyberfaces. it tells a lot about its underwhelming presentation as well.Spending time with Jesus!

Re: NHL 14 Player Faces List
14 is going to be great from a gameplay aspect which is the most important thing, but as you said so much is missing from the presentation standpoint that not improving on player heads would be a huge disappointment.
On a personal level, without the soundpacks and great rosters the posters here deliver each year, I would not play offline. It sucks seeing a league full of so many generic/poorly done faces, intros, arenas, etc. after 7 years in a franchise. That's why presentation needs to be addressed for the next gen consoles- there's barely any depth to the offline modes.Comment

Re: NHL 14 Player Faces List
I should've mentioned in my last post that there was some really good news yesterday- EA had a tournament at the rookie showcase where some prospects got to play 14. I get the feeling that EA might have got those guys to come in their mo-cap lab for facial scans. I sent them a tweet asking about it, we'll see if they respond
List of known rookies that showed up:
Adam Clendening (CHI), Brendan Gallagher (MTL), Mark McNeill (CHI), Malcolm Subban (BOS), and Tom Wilson (WSH). Matthew Dumba (who is already in 13 but maybe had a rescan?), Nathan Mackinnon, and Jonathan Drouin also went. There may have been more.
I hope EA showed some initiative and got this done...Comment

Re: NHL 14 Player Faces List
In the video below, Sean Ramjagsingh plays 2 periods using the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens. I'm 95% sure I can spot both Brendan Gallagher AND Alex Galchenyuk with their real faces. Notice when the first goal is scored (2:04 into the video), Pacioretty skates by the bench to celebrate. They're within the last 3 players Pacioretty "high fives" with. Gallagher can also be seen on the Habs bench later on during a cutscene. Galchenyuk can be seen immediately following the 2nd Leafs goal, skating by the lower part of the screen. I couldn't notice any new Leaf players other than Kadri, which was already added to our slowly growing, inconsequential list.
Is it normal that we're bothered by such minute details?

Re: NHL 14 Player Faces List
It's not minute at all. I'm 100% a gameplay guy. Presentation does not matter much to me. But come on, it's 2013. It's a player's face! They have game face. I don't understand why they can't use that for all of the other players. It does a pretty good job and the game would look so much better.

Re: NHL 14 Player Faces List
**** yeah! Confirmed! All of the players at the Rookie Showcase had their faces scanned.
When they could be dragged away from playing, the players also posed for three-dimensional headshots that will be used for the 2015 edition of the game.
List of rookies at the showcase:
Tyler Biggs (TOR), Adam Clendening (CHI), Cory Conacher (OTT), Matthew Dumba (MIN), Brendan Gallagher (MTL), Mikhail Grigorenko (BUF), Tomas Hertl (SJS), Bo Horvat (VAN), Boone Jenner (CBJ), Nathan MacKinnon (COL), Dylan Mcllrath (NYR), Mark McNeill (CHI), Jon Merill (NJD), Sean Monahan (CGY), Petr Mrazek (DET), Tanner Pearson (LA), Derrick Poulliot (PIT), Matt Puempel (OTT), Ty Rattie (STL), Malcolm Subban (BOS), Christian Thomas (MTL), Tom Wilson (WSH).Comment

Re: NHL 14 Player Faces List
Honestly, this has been the biggest issue with EA's NHL franchise for me. 7 faces!? I understand that this is really a bridge year between consoles, but c'mon.
This points to a larger issue with this franchise. Complacency. Especially, when it comes to presentation. Thorne and Clement are laughably outdated. No Natl. Anthems. No real coaches. Lazy, cheap licensing.
The fact that all the players at the Rookie Showcase were scanned is a good sign, but they won't show up until '15? Also, EA Canada have been known to scan players and leave them out of the game. (Galchenyuk last year, Mark Visentin, Dubnyk)
This development team RARELY ever updates the way their players look. Once they're scanned, that's it, they're never updating them. (A few exceptions, being Crosby and Ovechkin) this means player builds vary rapidly. Look at Chara vs Skinner or Lecavalier vs. Tavares. There's no consistency or extra effort.
I hope the next generation gives Ramjagsingh and EA Canada a swift kick in the *** and results in them giving us far more realistic/pre-set faces in 15 and beyond (80-90% of all players on NHL rosters should have scanned faces IMO)
I guess I'm just disappointed. Might cancel my pre-order.Comment

I think that was a typo, the rookies that were scanned will be in right away because most of them were in last year. The ones that were just drafted techinally have to sign a waiver to appear in the game, but they probably already did that while EA was there at the showcase. Trust me though I know what you mean about not including faces they've already scanned, so I'm going to let them know here- http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9675247.page
That thread is for player likenesses so we could use some help there.
Overall, faces are updated sometimes, but not as much as they should be. Still, that's what that thread on the EA forums will be for- simple stuff like adding Rick Nash's beard to his cyber, if the devs haven't already. Hopefully in a year or two almost everyone will have been scanned and they can focus on making updatesComment

Re: NHL 14 Player Faces List
Bergeron's face is definitely outdated though.. His hair looks ridiculous. You can tell it is from his 1st or 2nd year in the leagueComment
