NEW VERSION OF THE EDITOR (APRIL 11, 2018)
NEW FEATURE:
By default, when a player's name is edited via the editor, all commentary data for that player is removed. This prevents the commentators from continuing to pronounce his old name. As of this version, a new checkbox under the Option menu, "Clear commentary data on name edit", allows the user to turn off this behavior. This is useful because it enables a "hack" that allows modifying a player so that the commentator pronounces a different name than the one displayed for him. Steps to do this:
1. Edit name within the game itself to whatever you want pronounced.
2. Open the save file in the editor and uncheck "Clear commentary data".
3. Rename the player whatever you want. The old name will still be pronounced.
Editing the player's attributes in-game (other than his name) won't reset the pronunciation.
EDIT: Note that most player names in NHL 2K8 are hard-coded in the save file. As a result, this hack may not work unless you have used the editor to remove the hard-coded name. To do this for one individual player, just edit his name to anything in the editor and confirm the edit while the "Clear commentary" box is checked. To do it for all players in the save file at once, run the "Dissociate name pronunciations" action from the Batch menu. Note that once a player's hard-coded name has been erased from a save file, you never have to worry about it again.
BUG FIXES:
- Fixed a spreadsheet-export bug where the editor exported a player twice if he was in the minors. The bug applied only to Season/Franchise save files and also caused the player to be created twice when importing from the exported spreadsheet.
- Fixed a memory leak triggered when exporting spreadsheets.
