Then you assign those playlists in the game. Takes a while. Plus, when you import the songs, they're only called "Track 01, Track 02..." etc so you really have to pay attention to what you've ripped to the console, what tracks correspond to what playlists you have planned from before. Anyway, doable, but tedious. I had done it years ago for other games so it was easy to add more tracks. I have tons on there now so it's worth it to get it done once so you can then add tracks to your existing playlists.

You don't necessarily have to burn to a disc. It's much easier to stream your music through Windows Media Player

You don't, but nothing works more seamlessly with the 360 than burning discs to it. It sucks but it's the truth. I've tried over several years to use all kinds of workarounds, shortcuts, and it always comes back to CDs working best.

        UPDATE TO v0.12 (May 20, 2018)

        NEW FEATURE:
        - A draft class can now be imported from a spreadsheet (sample here).

        TWEAKS:
        - Faster detection of duplicate players when importing a spreadsheet.
        - Added notification when an import fails due to a roster being full.

        BUGS FIXED:
        - Bug where imports into a Franchise save corrupted its draft class.
        - Bug where overall rating didn't stick when copy/pasting attributes.

Good stuff, Draft Class importing via spreadsheet is probably one of the most important features added so far.

            Re: NHL 2K8 Editor (Snowdrift)

I wonder: if you just used Horizon to access a 360 Franchise or Season save, extracted the SaveData from Contents and tried opening that in the editor directly... would the editor recognize it? I mean, the same process used to insert a Roster save generated by the editor into a 360 save, only in reverse. I think I may be on to something here, if anyone wants to test it.

In any case, I'd like to try adding support for 360 Franchise and Season saves to the editor. I'd appreciate it if anyone could upload a 360 save from either Franchise or Season mode (or one of each) for me to analyze. A fresh, day-one save using the game's default rosters, preferably.

I thought you might've already tested this, what is the name of the PS3 Franchise file so your editor knows to look for it? I'll try it myself, and if it's unsuccessful I'll upload a base Franchise file.

EDIT: When opening the SaveGame.DAT it gives an error "Warning: invalid NHL 2K8 save (wrong length). Either the file is corrupted, or in the wrong format. Program will now exit."

Tried renaming it USR-DATA with the same result.

I've attached a base Franchise file.

                UPDATE TO v0.13 (May 21, 2018):

                NEW FEATURE:

One of the issues with creating rosters is that player salaries end up being wildly inaccurate when you enter Franchise mode.

This update adds functionality that estimates a fair salary for a player based on his age, overall rating and the current salary cap.

You can readjust salaries for all NHL players in one click by going to Batch > Contract Actions > Re-assign salaries (in the menu bar). To do it for just one player, go to Edit > Auto Salary in the right-click menu.

                OTHER TWEAKS:
                - Reorganized the right-click menu into categories.

                BUGS FIXED:
                - Bug where selected player could change after context menu was shown, leading to the wrong player being edited.

Thanks! Looks more complicated than I thought to work out. Any chance of uploading it in .ROS format?

It comes out in .FRN, not .ROS

Could use more help from 360 owners, if anyone has the time to upload two more files (SaveGame.DAT files, not *.FRN):

                    1. A Season-mode save with at least 3 players on waivers. It would also help to mention how many players total are on waivers between you and the CPU teams (remember to count goalies too).

                    2. A Franchise-mode save file saved at the draft screen (in the offseason, just before the first selection is made).

I feel like I'm 90% there, although I can't make any promises since I can't test my work.

EDIT: I reread my post and had visions of someone counting players on waivers team-by-team... just to be clear, you go to Management > Sign Players, use the shoulder buttons to navigate to the Waiver Wire, and count all of the players there in one place!

I'll have a look at this for you, possibly tomorrow. But just to make sure I'm on the right page, tell me the way you want that season set up. Probably very different from how I set mine up since I dont play with drafts or transactions.

Thanks. Any rosters, any settings, any team. The settings don't even matter because I won't even load up the save. I'm only looking at the data in the file itself.

The first file could be saved on any day of the calendar. You could literally start a season, waive three or more players, save and you're done.

The second save has to be Franchise mode, not Season mode, or else there's no draft anyway. Just sim through the first season to get to the draft.

Here you go, both of these are using the default rosters.

3 players on waivers for the Vancouver Canucks, none for the CPU.

                            NEW RELEASE v0.14 (May 30, 2018)

                            NEW FEATURE:

                            - (Untested) Support for XBox 360 Franchise and Season save files. As I don't own a 360, I'll be relying on the community to report what works (if anything) and what doesn't.

Usage: extract SaveGame.DAT from your 360 Franchise or Season (via Horizon, etc.). The editor should be able to open it and edit it directly. Whole save packages like *.FRN files are not supported (although *.ROS is still supported for Roster files).

Thanks to WWEDX2007 for making this possible by providing me with 360 files to study.

                            IMPROVEMENTS:

                            - Categorized the teams in the Transfer menu. You no longer have to scroll through dozens of teams to move a player to an AHL or created team.

                            - The "Fix Duplicate Signings" now detects players not properly called up from the minors, fixing another potential source of Franchise-mode freezes.

                            - When generating defense pairings, the editor will now keep the left-shooting defenseman on the left side and the right-shooting defenseman on the right when it's possible.

                            - Removed some references to the PS3, since 360 support seems to be well-established now.

                            BUG FIXES:

                            - Fixed a bug where performing a "Swap Rosters" between an NHL team and its AHL affiliate left some players stuck on both teams' active rosters at the same time.

The download links are in the first post... I was having trouble with them earlier so let me know if they worked for you.

The download links are in the first post... I was having trouble with them earlier so let me know if they worked for you.
Incredibly happy I was able to assist with getting this working! it's something I dreamed about.

I can report that I made a transaction as a test (Markus Naslund to the Ducks) via the editor, put the save back on my Xbox and it worked. no glitches after playing a game. your luck with whether stuff works on 360 is either really good or this game was programmed extremely simple.

As it stands, my biggest requests for Franchise/Season editing are the ability to change the year (from 2007-08 to anything) and the ability to edit a schedule.

Thankfully, the differences between console versions are extremely minor.

I haven't looked into changing the year yet. As for schedule editing, I had it figured out but lost my notes on it in a hard drive failure. Otherwise, it could literally have been included from the very first release of the editor. Anyway, I'm sure I can figure it out again.

The only problem with schedule editing is that the game still calculates your playoff berth using the old divisions, even if your schedule is based on the new ones or a different configuration. I tried everything to fix divisions but I think it's impossible. I suspect that they are coded within the game itself and not in the save file.

The workaround to that would be to edit which teams are in the playoffs in spite of their standings. Hopefully I can figure out a way to do that eventually.
