Yes, exactly. It is "Tin Pan Alley". The song was written in reference to the place that my username comes from. It's also the name of my Production Company (Tin Pan Alley Pictures).

I noticed. Very cool of you to do that. Considering I've done nothing but support you guys. :o

        Habs!

This one took longer than expected because of the insane amounts of transactions in the NHL right now.

The aforementioned skaters I had to make to replace players who were traded were rated and given appropriate gear.

Some skaters were also made prepping for future teams (Tavares for TOR, Tarasenko for STL)

I contacted Steve_OS (administrator here) to change the topic of the thread to reflect the change in year for the season of the rosters. He approved it.

          Expect Nashville real soon.

            We're goin' to Smashville.

The roster file's name changed to "Roster19", I'm not sure if the folder info is different or not. so you guys may need to re-copy.

It probably goes without saying but don't try to use Franchise or Season yet, because some teams have broken lines. it crashes. I actually got terrified at this thinking it was the dreaded created skater franchise crash that would deal a death blow to this project. but it turns out the game just cannot function without every team having full lines.

Thanks for the heads up and your continued effort. Though, I doubt I'd have bothered starting a season or franchise personally with the teams not done yet. Rosters in progress tend to be minefields of incomplete lines, etc, that don't play nice with anything but exhibition mode.

They really are great, and they play great.
This is an amazing update, as good of a new 2K NHL game as we can get.

I've received some flack for Gabriel and Schneider's ratings in this update, I will continue to adjust until the start of the season.

Well, you know my philosophy. You don't like ratings? Isn't it wonderful living in a world where you can edit things to your hearts content. But don't knock the guy bringing back to life a 13 year old game that still knocks today's game out of the park.

Schneider had a terrible year last year. A 2.93 GAA and a 0.907 save percentage. His win/loss record was 17-16-6. When you compare his stats with others ranked above him it’s hard to justify a higher rating.

Keith Kinkaid had a 2.77 GAA and a 0.913 save percentage. His win/loss record was 26-10-3.

And Kurtis Gabriel is just not very good.

Re: ESPN NHL 2K5 (Xbox) 2018-19 Roster Development Thread

It's gonna be a slow few days with me editing the Islanders, so I'll use my own topic to show something slightly off-topic to 2K5 but relevant to 2K as a whole:

                            https://web.archive.org/web/20040225...inn/roster.htm

You wanna know what really sucks? FlyingFinn made roster editors for NHL 2K3, ESPN NHL Hockey (2K4) and NHL 2K6. All of these are lost in time of the Internet. I previously read a thread where FlyingFinn couldn't dig up his old hard drives to find this stuff because he lives in another country or something now.

There's even comprehensive changelogs available for what could be done, including changing player career stats. Something I could only dream of in 2K5 and something Snowdrift wanted to implement in his 2K8 editor.

Imagining the games that could've been revived had these pieces been saved kinda makes me feel ill. It makes me want to consider learning coding to make my own editors for these games, If these editors still existed a 2K3 and 2K4 roster project would be concurrent with this one. I've even fooled around with texture replacing on Dolphin for NHL 2K3 on GameCube. It would be a cool project.....but the game has no way to change players' names, so it's impossible.

I have extremely good news to report.

So, before I began this project a user on the NHL 04 forums named ZeroPucks gave me his archival ESPN NHL 2K5 editor featuring rosters he had worked on in the past. I kept this file on my computer thinking nothing of it. (tinpinalley will recall this exchange)

I installed FlyingFinn's editor from his Operation Sports Arena (version 0.337, May 2005) which has been used to work on this project thus far.

This morning, I was snooping around the folder ZeroPucks gave me and checked his version of the editor, to my shock it was a newer version (0.342, December 2006)

This version is extremely similar fundamentally, HOWEVER. It has a feature I had been asking for all along: by right clicking a player and selecting "Clear Player Reference" IT REMOVES THEIR MENUFACE.

So now, I'm going through all of the fake faces I made and fixing them. this project is now much more aesthetically pleasing to me as a result and my enthusiasm is renewed tenfold.

Believe it or not, I tried that too a few years ago. I didn't spend much time on it, but I still have the edited textures for Jonas Hiller's mask and one of the Ducks jerseys.

It can be done, and it has the added benefit of automatically removing the player's photo from the menu. But there's a huge problem: changing the name dissociates a player from his face texture, so he ends up with a blank, white face in-game. That's one reason I quickly gave up on it.
