There are honestly probably more Red Wings fans in Arizona than real Coyotes "fans." If the Wings/Coyotes series had been locked in when Phoenix playoff tickets had gone on sale (as opposed to them going on sale before it was known Detroit was coming to Phoenix), they would've been outnumbered in their own arena.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
How can you question Luongo? He was the goalie in the USA/CAN gold medal overtime game. That's probably the biggest game he'll ever play... that's the weight of a whole COUNTRY on your shoulders. I just don't buy that shrinking when the stage is so big stuff, because he's been on a bigger stage and won.
The truth is that he has never played beyond the 2nd round in the playoffs in the NHL. I have no problem saying Luongo is a good goaltender but he's not elite in my eyes.
He was horrible last night and he was horrible vs. the Hawks last year. Last night was the 8th time he was pulled during a game this season.Comment

How is hitting somebody now considered "roughing?"
Loved the obvious interference on Franzen that wasn't called a couple minutes earlier as well. I swear NHL officiating is such a joke anymore, worse officiating in sports as of now.Last edited by mgoblue678; 04-20-2010, 08:13 PM.My Teams

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
old school NHL in Pens and Sens game..
8 goals in the 2nd period and a ton of ticky tackey penalties, while blantent trips, roughs, etc are ignored. gotta love the nhl..
also, what a play by Sid, take the body behind the goalline, catch up to the play, make a pass out in front for a kunitz goal. what end to end action you dont see from other superstars!! 4 points so far for Sid. also, what a redirect by Talbot on a pass from Adams..Twitch

How long does someone have to support a team before they can become your definition of a real fan?
Also, questioning the credibility of Phoenix's fans has nothing to do with the original statement, which was that they would have more fans next year if they made a deep run. I agree, I think their attendance will increase next year for sure.Comment

I'm talking about the fact that before they became good this year, they didn't exist, and just recently they magically popped up.Comment

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
The sad reality of hockey is that not too many casual fans go to a regular amount of random games and most hockey fans formed their allegiances well before the Coyotes existed.
I mean, if I lived in Phoenix, I would certainly go to my fair share of games, but probably not enough to make a dent, especially depending on what ticket prices are like down there.Comment

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
With a deep run in the playoffs this year, they are going to get more exposure, which should lead to higher numbers. Then maybe they will be able to establish a better fanbase.
I'll be rooting for them to survive, and think it would be awesome if they made it deep into the playoffs.Last edited by Whitesox; 04-20-2010, 08:30 PM.Comment

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
I don't think anyone can argue that they have seen an increase in fans because of the fact they're playing in the playoffs. I just think the assumption that there are more Wings fans than Coyotes fans in Phoenix is a little crazy.

My bad, Arizona in general.
Who really knows, though. I've always been a fan of the underdog, and I think it would be a great story if they could claw themselves back.Comment

What a garbage seris this has been. Ottawa's terrible goaltending is just, FANTASTIC! The refs have been working so hard. It is extremely difficult to miss all those calls in this seris. And the acting of the Pens amazing ability to sell off a move. I thought I was watching Monday Night Raw.
As you can tell I am BLEEPING pissed about this whole seris. Everything was just, TERRIBLE. Even Don Cherry was ripping through this. Enjoy the seris win Pens.Comment

Maybe this year will finally put an end to the "Marty Brodeur's a better goalie than [insert chump goalie here], therefore the Devils are going to win this series" nonsense I hear and read every April.
Nah. Probably not.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that.
