If they miss it, can the expansion talk and just move them to Seattle next year.

Deal is now official(unfortunately). Florida should be the next team considered to be moved. Move them to Seattle and it'd fix the East-West conference numbers.

They said the team would be called Arizona Coyotes, but I don't see anyone calling them that though(not even NHL)....? I thought that the name change was a for sure thing? And maybe logo change too.

Not gonna happen. Nobody's considering this except fans of other teams. The Panthers' arena lease doesn't run out until 2028.

Name change doesn't take effect until 2014/15 season. Haven't heard anything about logo/uni change.

Not only that, but the Panthers owners collect revenue from every single event held at the arena, not just hockey games. Whatever losses the hockey team has is more than made up for by all the other events they have. The Islanders were the only other team that was at risk of moving, but they're locked into Brooklyn now.

The Coyotes sale is just delaying the inevitable. They're gone in 5 years.

I thought the folks in Atlanta were bad, but these folks in Glendale take the cake.

Glendale, Atlanta, Toronto? Guess what none of them have done? File for bankruptcy (that I know of). Detroit takes the cake.

I don't see what the fiscal state of Detroit has to do with how well a hockey team is supported and whether it makes sense for the NHL to keep a franchise in a certain location.

Especially when you consider that 99% of the people that have been selling out Joe Louis Arena for decades come from out of town.

There are many thriving cities in North America that wouldn't be able to support a hockey team.
Good hockey markets are dictated by how many butts are in the seats and TV ratings; both of which Glendale has failed at.

Well, if you have a defense of the whole situation and how it benefits the NHL as a whole, we're all ears.

No one here has a vendetta against Phoenix or that franchise. I actually love Arizona and that area and wish the sport would shine. But it hasn't, won't, and will never. Time to cut your losses and give someone else a shot. The team has been very competitive 3 of the past 4 years, and nothing to show for it.

And no one here claims to be an expert. It's obvious you're too sensitive to be a part of discussion. There's nothing wrong with defending your own, but don't go taking shots at quality posters because you're upset over the truth.

The team had to give away playoff tickets.

                            Give. Away. Playoff tickets.

Well, Detroit itself was been run by a series of crooks since Coleman Young got elected in 1974. So it isn't any surprise to me at least that Detroit is declaring for bankruptcy.

However, this doesn't effect the Wings whatsoever. They still have high TV ratings and people will drive an hour plus from the 'burbs to come and sell out the Joe.

                                Well this is.....odd.

Maybe we shouldn't get too attached to the name 'Arizona' Coyotes just yet. According to a report in the Arizona Republic, a previously undisclosed meeting of
