Re: Fate of Coyotes decided in 2 decades(?)
Would be funny if after all this, they STILL cant get deal for arena in Phoenix and still have to move. I said it before, I don't even care if they move to Canada. Go to Portland, KC, anywhere, just get them out if they're not gonna be drawing fans. If the Phoenix move would lead to 16,000+ fans a night then great, but if not, for the sake of the league, stop wasting the leagues time and money.Comment

Not related to Coyotes moving, but they could be in trouble with the NHL over illegal draft prospect testing.
Teams aren't allowed to have physical testing of draft prospects before the combine.
Up to 250k fine per violation. And Coyotes could have around 20 violations.Comment

Fate of Coyotes decided in 2 decades(?)
Someone mentioned Vegas being the team the NHL wanted the Coyotes to be and how they serve the same southwest market more successfully. I wonder if the NHL will finally admit defeat and send ‘em back to QC with that cover.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Then again, he basically said that while moving trucks were all but prepping to go from Atlanta to Winnipeg.
I just don't get the reasoning for keeping teams in markets where you can fill the void.
Coyotes moving, you have Vegas more than capable of filling that void left by Coyotes being gone. And Vegas already has bigger moments in their franchise than the Coyotes have in their time in Arizona.
KC and Houston as relocation options would lead to 0 division changes since the Coyotes are now in the central. Would actually be better for a number of teams there too.
As long as Texas can support 2 hockey teams, or Missouri can support 2 hockey teams, both would be good options.
Similarly with the Panthers. Once Coyotes move, having Panthers in QC would lead to 0 division changes and would lead to less travel and more money.Comment

Re: Fate of Coyotes decided in 2 decades(?)
I'd say Quebec's chances of getting the Coyotes are pretty much nil.
The NHL finally have their even East/West split, and they're going to disrupt that for a tiny Canadian market?
Houston, Kansas City, Milwaukee - any semi-viable US market not in the Eastern time zone would be preferable to the NHL. Quebec City would come into play only if the alternative was the franchise folding.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. My guess is that if Quebec City ever does get a team, it'll be the Senators.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. There's another story too. As much as I hate the Sens for rivalry sake, I don't ever want them to move, even if QC is the destination. The only thing really wrong is their arena (which ties in with Melnyk). An arena in a proper location, and they're fine.Comment

Re: Fate of Coyotes decided in 2 decades(?)
Portland, OR? Natural rivalry with Seattle, western location, big into supporting 'niche' sports (e.g. Portland Timbers), no NFL team to compete with during the fall/early winter. Milwaukee also makes sense.Comment

Re: Fate of Coyotes decided in 2 decades(?)
Portland would be a great market too. Rivalry would be great, but is Seattle being there already good enough to attract fans in Portland?Comment

Re: Fate of Coyotes decided in 2 decades(?)
An interesting take I thought of in this whole situation, could ESPN/TNT have any influence over the Coyotes situation?
As in, if NHL has to move them, and should Houston be a market wanting to get them, could the network deals persuade NHL to relocate them there?
That's an extra team for sure that you will be seeing more often on those big network games.Comment

Re: Fate of Coyotes decided in 2 decades(?)
Easiest fit would be bringing back the Houston Aeros. KC, Portland, Milwaukee are other options. It might be best to go the Vegas route, where there are not other sports to compete against. In which case, Portland is the way to go.
If I were moving an Eastern Team to QC, I'd pick the Florida Panthers.Comment
