Re: NHL Off-Topic thread
Looks like the Sens are moving closer towards getting a new arena. Voting won't happen until next year, but that's good news for them. I've been to their arena before, and it really is in the middle of nowhere. Checked out a tourist map at the hotel in Ottawa, and the arena basically has it's own page cause it's so far from everything else(and was still called the Corel Centre on the map, despite being called Scotiabank Place when I went).Comment

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread
Lol nhl asg takes place at 5pm est, 2pst. That's how you get people to watch? Put it at a time of the day less people are likely to watch? I get the pro bowl is in the night, but nhl shouldn't just lay down and accept a lesser timeslot. Air from 7-10 on Sunday. Is nhl-nfl fanbase crossover really so high that they'll post bad ratings going up against an event nfl fans care less about than nhl fans care about the asg?
Or at very least, why not just asg on Saturday night? Skills on friday. So you got hnic timeslot in canada, and no nfl competition either in primetime. Or even midweek asg. Not every show is back yet from midseason break, so maybe nhl could work out something with nbc to air game during week. And any nbc show that is airing, just takes 1 week off, nothing unusual for a tv show to take a week or more off
If anything playing it as late as 5 eastern will hurt them but I understand why they need to include the West Coast for an all inclusive game.Comment

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread
Toews and Ovechkin are apparently out of asg.
Suspended 1 game as well as per nhl rule of guys skipping asg. Rule should be more than just 1 game. Make it 2 games, cause if team plays bad team the first game back, they might nit worry about a star missing it. 2 games might be more significant.
Either way,asg a joke. No Crosby, ovechkin, toews....NHL and PA need to do something about this. How can you market a supposed big event if stars dont get in,or just skip it. Needs to be some big thing to force guys in. Bigger suspension or fines for skippers.Last edited by Majingir; 01-28-2016, 12:43 PM.Comment

They should just have goon hockey. No rules, just go at it for 60 minutes.Comment

John Scott opens about the ASG. NSFW for some language.
1. The NHL is an embarrassment. The league has its fair share of problems, both on and off the ice, and THIS is what Bettman/Daly/Campbell choose to focus on? THIS is important to them? Unbelievable.
2. John Scott will never play another game in the NHL after Sunday, and he knows it.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: NHL Off-Topic thread
John Scott should've played his last game in the NHL years ago (or never should have played one), so that's good news.
Funny how when he tells us the fact that he'd never been in a hockey fight by 23 that he skips the part where he gets drunk at the Ambassador and tries to run down his fellow students in his car. Then follows them after they get into their car and tries to run it off the road.
What happened to him surrounding his AS selection is a bunch of garbage, but spare me the "woe is me" stuff from college. I watched him play live several times. He might not have been getting in fights, but oh, there were liberties taken. Lots of them.
And now I realize how much I miss the old WCHA and it's making me even more angry, lol.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 01-28-2016, 04:47 PM.Comment

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread
Sportslogo reporting that the new leafs logo will be a combo between their 60s logos. Good and bad i guess. One on left is my fave logo they ever used, one on right is my least fave logo in the blue & white maple leaf era. Hope its more left than right. Rebrand like the jays, not the raptors.
Leafs announced they're unveiling the new logo on February 2nd.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread
Someone who has seen the logo did a mockup of it. Some parts aren't 100% accurate(based on what they said), such as font might be slightly diff, and outline itself slightly diff too,but overall this looks like it could be the logo.
Left is the logo they used from 38-63(and a slightly modified/better version until 67), and right is the mockup. If it looks close to,if not exactly like the right logo,it'd definitely be a great new logo.
