For a second I thought that was a KHL team when I saw those jerseys.

I believe the owner has spoken about the name of the team for quite some time now.
Although, I don't know if he's talked about it a lot over the past few months.
But when he first applied for expansion, this was the team name he was going with.

I believe it's an army reference:
“I love the name Black Knights because I was a West Point guy, went to Army, it’s close to my heart,” he told Sportsnet. “And the black knight, many people don’t know this, is actually the good knight. And I think that Black Knights would be a great name.”

The owner prefers Black Knights, but you know many fans will just call them the Knights(Similar to other multi word names like White Sox,Red Sox,Blue Jays,Trail Blazers ext). And they won't even be most known Knights team in hockey. London Knights I'd think holds that honour. Whatever the name is, let fans vote. Seems like a number of names in sports was created just cause owner liked it,even if fans preferred something else.

I could see Wranglers being a popular one since they've had multiple teams, including an ECHL team for over a decade until 2014. Knights sound better, but Wranglers could hold more meaning to the ECHL fanbase

                Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Coyotes apparently offered Domi + 7 + 21 to Leafs for 1(Matthews). Leafs won't do that, but obviously if they give up 1st, it'd have to be big overpayment.

Fans wanting something like OEL + Domi + Strome for Matthews

Which won't happen, so I guess another 2 weeks of all these rumors. I mean if Lindros who wanted to be dealt got traded for 6th pick that year(Forsberg),an all star dman(Duchesne),a recent 4th overall pick(Ricci), a vezina starting goalie, multiple 1st rounders, cash,+ more. I'd think Matthews price at a #1dman + 1-2 top line forwards wouldn't be entirely crazy.

Ricci for example in that deal, 4th overall guy who had ppg number not too far behind other u20 rookies at the time like Jagr and Sundin. So he had high ceiling at time of trade, didn't pan out that way, but just trying to emphasize just how much QC did get for Lindros vs what Matthews could go for.

Teams getting info about expansion draft rules:

One line I found interesting in the article...
With the NHL’s board of governors expected to vote later this month on expanding to Las Vegas for the 2017-18 season
No mention of Quebec. Not that it's a surprise, I'm sure most people figure if NHL does expand, it's only to Vegas, but interesting that Quebec gets left out of the article.

Well Friedmann wrote about Quebec in his 30 thoughts. Said that they will wait a little bit with Quebec, so that they see what happens to Carolina or even Ottawa(regards with their arena) - like Winnipeg had to wait for Atlanta. But they can always expand later, maybe they will try to move 1 team to Quebec and expend to another team in west?

I'm sure they'd still love to have Seattle in the fold.
Speaking of Ottawa, that's a team I think would be ripe for relocation. I'm a Sens fan, but I'm not versed on the market there. Is it a good one? Do they make money?
Does it make sense to have a 2nd team in Ontario that isn't in the GTA?

I was actually thinking of taking control of Ottawa and moving them to Hartford or another city when I get NHL 17.

I don't want Sens to leave. As much as I obviously hate them(rivalry reasons), still want a team there, and fans are dedicated. Rivalries with Leafs and Habs are great, and if QC gets a team one day, I'd imagine their rivalry would be great too. Any Ottawa relocation is prob just talk to scare them into getting an arena deal.

I've been to their arena before and it definitely is in a bad location(it's like they stuck a building in middle of nowhere, outside of city. It didn't even fit on the Ottawa tourist map I got, cause of how far it is from main parts of city). They really do need to build a new one,but I hope NHL won't move them if they don't get new place. There's a bunch of teams much worse off in the league than Sens in their current arena location.
