Mildly surprised that Doughty won the Norris.

VERY surprised Kopitar took the Selke away from Bergeron. Stunned, actually.

I am worried that if Holland can dump Datsyuk's contract, that he may be interested in Lucic. If they want a power forward type, they should go after Nash. The Wings need help on D more than up front; I like Demers, Hamhuis, Yandle and if he's non-tendered Wiercoich.

I would feel the same way about Stamkos as I did when the Tigers added Prince Fielder.

This is what I don't get.

Quebec would seemingly support their team far more than Vegas. It's near certainty that the NHL saw Vegas as "ready" and wanted the slim notoriety of being the first major sport to have a Vegas team.

Regardless...doesn't matter how many teams they add. Until they hire a decent marketing SVP that actually understands how to market the sport and get it back to where it was in the late 80s/early 90s...I don't see how this will help much.

Here are some factors why, if you believe the League.

Such factors include the League's geographic imbalance within the conferences, the difficulty of bringing two new teams in at the same time, and the struggling Canadian dollar, which was trading at 78 cents on the U.S. dollar on Wednesday. Las Vegas will be the eighth team in the Pacific Division and the 15th in the Western Conference. The NHL has 16 teams in the Eastern Conference. Commissioner Bettman and Daly each stressed the importance for balance within the conferences.

Owners of the Vegas franchise have deposits for 15,000 season tickets at this point, will be capping sales soon so that they can offer at least 500 or so tickets for sale per game.

So many people here are so excited, and there's a stadium meeting that will likely all but set the funding in the morning and take another step towards helping make the Raiders happen (still a long way to go, biggest hurdles remain).

Haven't considered season tickets as I've been to 1 hockey game in my life, so going to check out a regular season game or two when the time comes and then we'll see.

The season ticket stuff for Vegas, they claim majority of those are from individuals, NOT casinos/hotels. But how do we know if those individuals aren't just owners or something of those locations, buying it themselves and then will use the tickets as part of casino or hotel promotions.

And a thing about QC, NHL now has a team in their back pocket if they ever need to do something like relocation. If Coyotes ever move,or NHL wants to expand further, Seattle has to be the frontrunner there, but if someone like Carolina or Florida ever moves, QC no doubt should be the fave.

So the team has 3 days to choose who they want. Then the results will come out the 21st.
Even if it's just a quick 30 minutes special, I could still see it happening on TV. Wouldn't hurt to just have a special show to announce the roster selections. Worst case, just have it announced on live stream on nhl.com.

If there was one guy I'd love to see.....forced to go to the gul.......KHL.....it would be Milan Lucic.

But no, we lose Datsyuk from the league and we have to endure this Lucic **** further.

                          From LeBrun:

"Canucks GM Jim Benning says he definitely has interest in UFA winger Milan Lucic, Vancouver native. Says he will reach out after the draft"

                          Doc's reaction:

Oilers should go after him. Add Lucic, trade Hall+4th for a dman, and suddenly they have:
RNH,Mcdavid,Lucic,Draisaitl,Eberle in top 6 on forward
                              Sekera,Nurse,Klefbom,traded dman in top 4 on D

If Talbot plays like he did last year, while Oilers add top line D and F, they definitely would be closer to playoffs than the 1st pick.

Toronto getting 2 teams would be HUGE. But Leafs and probably Sabres(depending how far away from Toronto the team could be, Hamilton for example) would have issue with it. No way NHL angers the money making MLSE(and by extension, media partner Rogers).

Just sucks knowing Toronto could easily support 2 teams, and we see 2 teams in LA,Chicago,NY in other sports, but Toronto in hockey can't get that. Sure, 2nd team will be the Mets,Clippers,Islanders(compared to Yankees,Lakers,Rangers) of the city, but they'll still have huge following, and obvious 24/7 media coverage.

It's one thing trying to expand their reach, but when milking your already existing oversaturated major market even more is a bigger money maker, why not consider it?
