Mildly surprised that Doughty won the Norris.

I would feel the same way about Stamkos as I did when the Tigers added Prince Fielder.Comment

Re: NHL 2016 Off-Season Thread
Quebec would seemingly support their team far more than Vegas. It's near certainty that the NHL saw Vegas as "ready" and wanted the slim notoriety of being the first major sport to have a Vegas team.
Regardless...doesn't matter how many teams they add. Until they hire a decent marketing SVP that actually understands how to market the sport and get it back to where it was in the late 80s/early 90s...I don't see how this will help much.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: NHL 2016 Off-Season Thread
Here are some factors why, if you believe the League.
Such factors include the League's geographic imbalance within the conferences, the difficulty of bringing two new teams in at the same time, and the struggling Canadian dollar, which was trading at 78 cents on the U.S. dollar on Wednesday. Las Vegas will be the eighth team in the Pacific Division and the 15th in the Western Conference. The NHL has 16 teams in the Eastern Conference. Commissioner Bettman and Daly each stressed the importance for balance within the conferences.Comment

Re: NHL 2016 Off-Season Thread
Owners of the Vegas franchise have deposits for 15,000 season tickets at this point, will be capping sales soon so that they can offer at least 500 or so tickets for sale per game.
So many people here are so excited, and there's a stadium meeting that will likely all but set the funding in the morning and take another step towards helping make the Raiders happen (still a long way to go, biggest hurdles remain).
Haven't considered season tickets as I've been to 1 hockey game in my life, so going to check out a regular season game or two when the time comes and then we'll see.Comment

Re: NHL 2016 Off-Season Thread
The season ticket stuff for Vegas, they claim majority of those are from individuals, NOT casinos/hotels. But how do we know if those individuals aren't just owners or something of those locations, buying it themselves and then will use the tickets as part of casino or hotel promotions.
And a thing about QC, NHL now has a team in their back pocket if they ever need to do something like relocation. If Coyotes ever move,or NHL wants to expand further, Seattle has to be the frontrunner there, but if someone like Carolina or Florida ever moves, QC no doubt should be the fave.
We aren't going to see it on TV. And there's a 95% chance that the results get leaked early. From the NHL.com article: Teams have to submit their protection lists by 5 p.m. ET on June 17, 2017. Las Vegas has to submit its selections for the expansion draft by 5 p.m. ET on June 20. The results of the expansion draft will be released publicly on June 21.
So the team has 3 days to choose who they want. Then the results will come out the 21st.Comment

If there was one guy I'd love to see.....forced to go to the gul.......KHL.....it would be Milan Lucic.

Re: NHL 2016 Off-Season Thread
Oilers should go after him. Add Lucic, trade Hall+4th for a dman, and suddenly they have:
RNH,Mcdavid,Lucic,Draisaitl,Eberle in top 6 on forward
Sekera,Nurse,Klefbom,traded dman in top 4 on D
If Talbot plays like he did last year, while Oilers add top line D and F, they definitely would be closer to playoffs than the 1st pick.Last edited by Majingir; 06-23-2016, 12:09 PM.Comment

Re: NHL 2016 Off-Season Thread
Just sucks knowing Toronto could easily support 2 teams, and we see 2 teams in LA,Chicago,NY in other sports, but Toronto in hockey can't get that. Sure, 2nd team will be the Mets,Clippers,Islanders(compared to Yankees,Lakers,Rangers) of the city, but they'll still have huge following, and obvious 24/7 media coverage.
It's one thing trying to expand their reach, but when milking your already existing oversaturated major market even more is a bigger money maker, why not consider it?Last edited by Majingir; 06-23-2016, 12:16 PM.Comment
