Lol Brassard scores on the Panthers.
Who’s ready to give him a bad contract?Comment

4 in a row since Donato joined and he has a game winner in OT and 5 assists so far. I don't understand this team. I really don't mind either of the trades. Coyle and Granlund were both major underperformers and it was time to move on from both. I wish them the best.Comment

Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Thread
Another weird scheduling decision.
Sabres played in Toronto on Monday, had to play in Philly the next night, then have to play at home vs Pens on Friday before flying back to Toronto to play the Leafs on Saturday.
Weird playing the same team twice in the same week, in the same building, while having other games inbetween those 2 games.Comment

Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Thread
The Habs scored 8 goals against the Wings without the benefit of a single power-play the entire game. Detroit's skaters were a combined -35 for the game. Apparently, this hasn't happened in the league since 1979, when it was - Detroit (!) beating the Colorado Rockies 8-1.
I had sort of forgotten what it was like during the "Dead Wings" era that immediately preceded the drafting of one Stephen Gregory Yzerman (aka "A New Hope"), but it's all coming back to me now. Winter isn't coming for the Red Wings, it's here....and (in the words of the immortal Phil Connors) it's gonna be cold, it's gonna be grey, and it's gonna last you for the rest of your life....Comment

Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Thread
Even in the 80s, the Wings were kinda bad. From when Yzerman was drafted in 83/84 to when the Wings were legit in 91/92, they only missed the playoffs twice, but were only over .500 once. That was in 87/88, when they won the ol' NFC Norris before getting jobbed out to Edmonton in the WCF.Comment

Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Thread
I don't get how a team as unphysical as the leafs cant draw penalties and are basically even on pp vs pk opportunities
Dermott gets hit, injured, taken out of the game. Oilers player who hit him goes to the penalty box........except there's no penalty!?! Ya, refs don't see an issue with a hit leading to immediate injury when even guy who delivered it thought it was a penalty.
Gardiner already out for weeks, now Dermott gone who know how long. Already weak D gets worse.Comment

Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Threadat that Detroit
I saw a stat that Detroit hasn’t had a 30-goal scorer since 2008-09 when they had 4 in that season (Hossa, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen)
Larkin should get there this year though.Comment

Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Thread
People have to watch this. Its beyond a playoff game atmosphere.
Crazy to watch. I've never seen fans boo a guy on a team I cheer for as much as this. Not Bautista in Texas, not any Leaf in Montreal, not Kawhi in SA.
Closest I can think is VC returning to Toronto and even then, I think the NY crowd has that beat.Last edited by Majingir; 02-28-2019, 08:34 PM.Comment

Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Thread
Offside challenges are stupidest thing I've ever seen in hockey.
Spending 5 minutes to judge a play that resulted in a goal 20 seconds later because of being literally 1 inch offside.
Leafs better not play anything like this in playoffs. If they do, I don't care what anyone on team says, major changes would need to happen. Don't end up like Raptors and wait 5 or so playoff runs before deciding to do big stuff.Last edited by Majingir; 02-28-2019, 10:42 PM.Comment

Major offsides is what the challenge should be for, but more times it seems like these challenges are for offsides that were offside by an inch or so, judged by 4 camera angles to see if a guys skate was 100% off the ice, going frame by frame, zoomed in and all of that just to see.Comment

Meanwhile, the Lightening are +80 with a little less than 20 games to go. That's at least 32 better than any other team in the NHL. Sick.Comment
